Gas Prices.. Way Up There!!! (UPDATED SLIGHTLY)
How are gas prices around the country lately? Here in Northern California, the average is 1.99 per gallon (Weirdly enough, there are 2 gas stations next to each other... one is 1.99 and the other is charging 2.11).
I spoke to a friend in Pennsylvania over the weekend and he says they are at 1.75 per gallon. When I left NJ, they were at 1.31 there, what about now? Are they the same or are they approaching the $2.00 mark too?
Any ideas on this trend? Reading the comments, it sounds like this isn't a left coast thing!
UPDATE:
So I went to the gas station today and they break down all the California surcharges and taxes on the gas pump... 47 cents in taxes PER GALLON!!! If Ah-nold is elected governor, he says he will lower taxes... we'll see what happens!

Ha ha.. whatever!

my cousin told me about a month ago that cali has 6-lane highways and there's still traffic. that's pretty interesting.
haha, yep its a whole nother world. but they are 8-lane highways i think...
i think he meant 6 lanes on each side?
yup, that's wat i meant
I just paid 1.73 for premium. I know i can get it cheap but i only had .200 of gas in my tank so i needed it.
ok i wrote this story a long time ago! like, two months ago. ian i should automatically get more points since dave is re-using my story ideas.
that was in march tho, before the war, etc. it's a different world now. plus, there's a gas pipeline that's out in pheonix, az area, and it's affected CA.
Hmmmm... I thought that I thought of it all by myself as I passed by the gas stations near me..
subliminalinal
1.30 - 1.45 range
why is NJ always so much cheaper then NY?
because we don't pay tax on gas (i think). also, new jersey guys have more personality.
lol.....so THATS why my daughter keeps goin there...its the cheap gas and the guys...or is it the gas and the cheap guys???? =/
depends... are we talkin about dan?

Back to the Future ROCKS.... I want a DeLorean that can travel through time....
hi there dave how is married life treating ya? hope all i well my friend
i was saying the other day how i wanted to get one. but then while parking i could be like john hughes and park 5 miles away from everyone else simply so i could open my door.
yeah the gas prices Our dumb but it's the System. I know because alterantive fuels just means everybody gets some. But it won't be cheap. Trust me. my company makes the stuff that goes into fuel cells
eh this is something to do with driving that a coworker sent to me:
Scam? ? drive the limit by marker 116.6 just in case!
Garden State Parkway at mile Marker 116.6 Warning!
I took a friend to court in Holmdel today and found out some information to save everyone a speeding ticket. Mile marker 116.6 on the Garden State Parkway (Holmdel exit) there is a stationary radar trap. Out of the 50 or so persons in court today, half were all there for speeding at that spot. I don't know what direction it is but I'd tell everyone. Pass this on to everyone you know.
The judge and prosecutor where actually laughing as they fined everyone $172 plus $30 court costs = $202. Don't forget about the points that you'll get added to your license as well. WHAT A SCAM! Pass this on.
AND DRIVE SAFELY
that is disgusting... ugh
i think you should make this a news story....!!!
i probably should have but no one seems to care besides you and matt lol
I think it would make a WONDERFUL news story!!!
haha dave you're always so positive
I try... I actually think I knew that there was a trap in that location.. I've heard about it before.
My dad had told me about it on the way back from camping.
Well, I'm glad you told me. I haven't been down the road in a long time, but i just hope I remember b/c I'm not that law abidding when it come to speed limits....so thanks
ESPECIALLY driving that cool little VW you have ;-)
hahah. we drove past that today. nobody would ever catch the station wagon loaded with girls. at least not give them a ticket.
gas jumped 12 cents from last night to this morning on 17...ugh
Ok gas is really moving up there now. I just saw 2.05 for premium in chester.
That's what it's going for here for REGULAR!!! But I wonder WHY it's happening!
Many factors. http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=8309984
the blackout probably contributed to this
Prolly not, since it's a nationwide thing... refineries and companies are located in other parts of the country not affected by the blackout
arnold.. the governator
hahahahahah. or could it be gary coleman? but as it was explained to me, the arnold thing makes a small amount of sense because he's married to a kennedy. and they're political.
all i know is that gary coleman's gonna need some phonebooks to stand on if he's gonna make speeches
Poor little guy.
Ah-nold has been very visible and active in politics for a very long time.. I think he was Reagan's spokesman on physical fitness....
last week it was 1.99 in ny....now its 1.93...its going down! Yippee!
To gain a REAL perspective on the matter, you should try taking a look at the outside world every once in a while. When I lived in Missouri in 1999, a gallon of gas was as cheap as a gallon of water. Is it right that gas is as cheap as water? What do you think? What about all the countries in the world where they can't even GET enough clean drinking water? OK, OK...so maybe some of you don't care about that.
Gas in countries like Iran and Iraq was 10c a gallon before the second Gulf War. However, in the UK, it's about $4.50 a gallon, of which approximately 75% is tax. The AA (Automobile Association) in the UK publishes figures each month. Here's the lastest for August 2003, and also for the rest of Europe.

I guess what I'm saying is that even if you ARE paying around $2.00 a gallon, it's still about $1.25 a gallon less than the cheapest European prices. Y'all don't know how lucky you are! Y'all come back now, y'hear?
