Freedom from Religion

forrestina by forrestina · Jan 29, 2004 · News · 465 views · ·

I've never met anyone who is a Formalist. These people do not believe in the separation or division into any sect or group-be it through religion, ethnicity, political standing etc.. Now, one such person, has made a resolution to the UN in an attempt to acheive freedom from religion. Is this the start of things to come?

i don't understand how they think this helps to re-affirm individual beliefs and allow for prayer...

wow this is pretty alarming, gets you thinking...

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

how did you post a comment when this is "awaiting approval"?

Wow. I am speechless. Everyone should read the proposal.

After asking around a bit, it seems that almost anyone can make a draft resolution, and 99% of them are rejected.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

i would like to make a resolution that the threaded musings view be taken out back and shot

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

yes but it would be in harmony w/ the prophecy about giving power over to the wild beast and such. In france they are also trying to get religious symbols and clothing identifying someone w/ a particular religion to be banned. not so far fetched. this article along w/ this and last weeks watchtower-pretty hair raising.

That's insane. Does this mean we don't have to see countless people walking around with crosses around their necks anymore?

The funny thing is.. this makes perfect sense. Religion - false religion - HAS indeed been the cause of most of the strife in this world. This person is totaly right in removing "all" religion ... if i wasn't in the truth i would think the same way.

I just got an email from a friend who did some investigating of this resolution and found out it was a hoax.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

Even if it is a hoax...it just shows how in the dark people in the world are.

toxicgirlOG 2003 ·

even if it is a hoax, my dad sent me a website about this formulism. If you look in the news sections, there is some pretty interesting stuff. This kind of thinking is for real-even the Archbishop of Canterbury made some surprising statements.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

yes i went to the site to try and understand this creed a little better. i think i've known people who were formalists, but didn't know it.
