Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed
by Well, what so many have waited for is finally about to arrive. Jump to Lightspeed is the new expansion coming out for SWG. There are some great features in this new expansion.
For starters it looks like they're nerfing the way you become a jedi. They're making it more mission based and not as vague as it currently is. But the great news is space battles. We're not talking I go, you go, I go, we're talking real time space battles, similar to X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Sony brought on two of the programmers that worked on Wing Commander IV and Wing Commander Prophecy. Having played and beaten WC: Prophecy I can testify that this is definetly something that is going to be a lot of fun. Once you're flying you'll even be able to break out your joystick if you prefer that to a keyboard and mouse while flying.
They're also introducing a new class, the Shipwright. This new class will be able to construct all the ships in game. You'll be able to purchase a TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and replica Millenium Falcon for starters. They're will also be a large party, glass bottom boat style ship which can be used for parties, taxing, or whatever. There will be missions that can be done in space such as: escort, search and rescue, search and destroy, and inspecting supply convoys for Smugglers. These missions can even be done with a group of up to 20 ships. Some ships can hold several groups as well. In the Falcon you'll have one pilot and two other people can control one of the two turrets aboard.
Another intersting feature I thought is it looks like Droid Engineers will finally be of some good use. R2 units will be able to act as your wingman. The droid will be able to provide assistance in regulating your shields, speeding up repairs, managing resources, or give you a temporary speed boost. Also, while in battle you will be able to target different things on a ship, rendering it useless instead of simply blowing it up. You can take out it's shields, weapons, or engines.
The game is being shipped with 10 space zones that are sure to be extremly large. Check out the review of it in July's issue of PC Gamer!

Interesting. This sounds like something I would be interested in playing even though I'm borderline when it comes to video games of any kind.
Is it really X-wing vs. Tie-Fighter pairings though? That's pathetic. X-wings can take tie-fighters any day. Now, Tie-interceptors are a totally different story.
Pilots. It depends on the pilots.
No no no. Even a novice X-wing pilot has a better chance then a medicore tie-fighter pilot because x-wings have shileds and proton torpedos! Interceptors, on the other hand, have shields and are faster then x-wings as well as having an ion canon (I think) which would give them a better advantage.

i also believe that tie-fighters are designed for smaller people. I remember reading that Vader has a special one designed so he could fit in it.
He did. That doesn't mean that they're for smaller people though just that Darth Vader was really that huge with that stupid armor.
not a special one designed JUST for FITTING purposes! his is one with hyperspace, torps and deflector shields UNLIKE regular tie-fighters. get the specs, people.

Well the only way you'll play this is if you buy SWG and the expansion. There is also a $12 monthly fee as this is an MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) similar to Everquest.
And in this game it all depends on the pilots as mentioned above. There will be all types of ships. And if I know SWG the only way you'll be able to get an X-Wing or Tie fighter is if you're dedicated to that faction.
When I played I was an Imperial and I actually had an AT-ST that I could use whenever. So Imperials would probably be the only ones able to use a TIE Fighter.

There were certain games my ex used to play and she was pretty good at them. She never liked games before but would only play to pass time as we waited for our pizza. For a long time every Friday was pizza night and we'd play Tekken. She got really good. Used to be funny to go to the mall and she'd hop on to play some kids who thought she would be easy and she goes and cleans house.
haha, yea..actually i really got to luv those jap-fighting games like capcom & there were some others...& all those raceing games i'm just funny to watch while i fall down ravines & get stuck in walls & stuff, lol ;)
JAP-FIGHTING GAMES. that was very fun to read. i love street fighters games. although Marvel vs Capcom 2 is my fave.
