If you could have dinner...

if you could have dinner with someone from history...who would it be and why?

there are certainly many people from the past that i wouldn't mind sharing a night with. joseph, peter, bejamin franklin, tom edison. but if i have to pick someone first, i would say david.

he's one of the few people from bible times that we have a record of from youth to old age. what got him interested in sheepherding? what was he thinking when running towards goliath? what was it like having so many men rely on him (when hiding from saul)? what was jonathan like? how did the day-to-day affairs of government compare to the years of military battles...living in tents and not palaces? what did he invision the temple to be?

i hope to get him to myself someday...just for a little chat. i can wait two or three hundred years (or more) ;)
