So the conversation in the musings got me thinking. So many people either LOVE starbucks or HATE it. Do you have a favorite drink? It's just interesting to hear the customer's point of view. Have you ever had an aweful experiance there? Did you know that if you complain its manditory for you to get whats called a "service recovery coupon" in which you get a coupon for a free drink, any size any drink. Do you hate the prices or do you think theyre fair considering you can customize REDUCKYOULOUSLY so. IE:decaf, venti, quad, 135 degree, wet, with whip, cappuccino.
Not only that but starbucks is known for what a good company to work for. Health benefits for 20hrs a week, discounted stock, flexablity, you can get extra hours anywhere in the US, you get a free lb coffee or box of tea a week, and 30% discount. But is this too big of a "corporation" is the joy of a small coffee house taken out. OR do you feel that you know your barista and they know YOU by name & drink, and already have your drink ready when they see you pull into the parking lot.
Anyway just wondering what you all think.

I love starbucks. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I worked at the Pier in Atlantic City and went there like every morning and yeah they knew my name and always struck up a conversation for a minute or two .. and I had a discount because I was an employee of the mall.. and they had a huge wall of glass that faced the ocean so really it was the best coffee shop in the world. It was awesome. I love it. LOVE ITTTTTT. GIVE ME CAFFEINEEEEEEEE
I had a Starbucks coffee at Newark airport when I dropped the kids off for their flight to FL. I was disappointed in the quality.
actually thats not a "real" starbucks. its a licence concept store, which means they dont have to keep to as high standards as a real store. thats any in airports, reststops, targets, and acme food stores.
starbucks is pretty good, i'm not a huge coffee drinker but i like going there once in a while and getting a big ol cafe mocha and one of those espresso brownies i think they're called.
it is pretty expensive though
I don't really like coffee, but I used to love Frappuccinos. Haven't had one in yeeaars tho. :(
i loved that drink you told me to get...strawberry lemonade...so yum. But my favs are the frappachinos, esp. the mocha frap. But i never get them anymore, cuz they're too high in calories, and making it light just doesnt do it justice.
And the fruit and nut cookies are rockin.
And i think the prices are pretty high. Unless you know a starbucks employee. meow.
Finally, overall i do enjoy starbucks, more so when i was living at home, because it was a great place to go and hang out and talk with friends for hours, when you kinda didn't feel like sitting at your parents house. Yipper skipper.
uuuh... i don't really like starbucks that much. coffee is disgusting.
if people were really worried about their health, rather than ordering a "half caf, decaf, recafinated, orange mocha frapuccino, at exactly 137.28999 degrees" they would,t get coffee at all, because it is bad for you.
plus the people in starbucks annoy me a lot. you always see those hippy college losers, with there corduroy, hemp bracelets, and che guevara t-shirts, typing away on there mac books, while listening to bright eyes...
...hypocrites.
wow, i used the wrong use of the word "their" in every sentence. whoops.
You're a pup. Wait till you hit 25 or so. That dynamic energy begins to dissipate. I never drank coffee until the last few years.
your only six years older than me. coffee will never "grow on me."
i hate all this crap about "acquired tastes." if i don't like something, im not gonna force myself to eat it until i can bear the taste of it, or until i "acquire" the taste for it. that's ridiculous.
Oh yeah? How old do you think I am? I'll be 28 in 2 months. You're 21 or 22? Survey says.....NO!!!
I think it's cool that they treat their employees so well. It's the difference between them and wal-mart as huge corporations. The coffee's not amazing, but it's nice to sip while walking around. I once had a sucky job once in a town with a starbucks that was almost always empty when I got there in the morning, and the whipped cream and caffeine made the job more bearable.
actually i prefer Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (do you guys have those there?) but i do LOVE starbucks. im SO not the coffee drinker but there are those days where a few sips of a caramel macchiato (sp?) hit the spot. and i LOVE the choc chip banana bread (reduced fat of course - lol) and YES i am one of the weirdo's that will request a "short, non-fat, sugar free vanilla caramel macchiato" lol but i dont feel weird ordering it cause there are weirdo's weirder than i!
*seriously, i would LOVE to work for starbucks!!
COFFEE BEAN AND TEA LEAF ON SUNSET AND FAIRFAX
how i miss theee
so you know what im talking about then! :P
yeah. I am aching to go back there. ACHINGGGGGGGG hahaha
IIII KNOW!!! you need to come back out!!!
i do, i do
I'm not driven to goto starbucks. When I'm in there I feel like all the nerds are laughing at my inability to order fancy coffee. Just give me coffee, please. But I do like to mix things up and try things for the heck of it.
haha
is it italian, or is it fritalian.
lol that ad always cracks me up. mikayla hates it.
I don't drink coffee. I tried their hot chocolate. It tastes like dark chocolate. I did not like it.
This one time they asked my name and i was like uh, Peter. I thought the effeminate man was flirting, but then they called my name for my drink.
I like the medium white chocolate mocha with raspberry.
Oh and their system of tips is communism, but i think I already discussed that in a journal
HAHAHHA! that's so funny.
how did they know your real name?
i guess i get around
LOL
I don't LOVE or HATE Starbucks. I like it better than Dunkin' Donuts though. Neither seems to have good espresso. The people at the counter always say it wrong too. Oh how I hate that.
wut you don't like eXpresso?
oh! that word rocks me to my very core. i just don't see how you can work in a coffee shop and say it wrong.
i got a coffee maker as an apartment-warming present (back in october). i finally bought coffee for it. i bought starbucks brand. i have two espresso makers, i was given espresso from italy. so good.
hahahahahaha ME TOO! i hate that stupid expreso people
I LOVE MC'D'S COFFEE BETTER HA
Yeah actually BK and McD's make better coffee. It's been proven.
oh that hurts me to the core. i understand the dunkin people b/c they love the cream...but really? mc'd's? actually on a national taste test mc'd's scored highest & dunkin scored lowest. lol i dont get it.
i got iced coffee at McDonalds the other morning, around 3 a.m. comin home..... it was SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD
you guys all talk about eating organic, and complain about how badly the animals are treated. well mcdonald's buys more chicken than any other company in the world. and they buy a heck of a lotta beef as well. there are thousands of cows all kept in pens so close to each other that they can't even move. they get sick from standing in each other's crap all the time, and a lot of the time they die. then all of them, even the sick ones get ground up all together. so when you eat a mcdonald's hamburger you could be eating meat from literally a thousand different cows. the chickens are treated just as badly, and the pigs have it even worse.
so don't complain about how expensive organic food is, or how horrific the treatment of animals is, because you guys are the ones that are supporting it...hypocrites.
That's why I go out and shoot deer and have deer burgers. LOL! At least I know the meat is natural.
by the way "organic" junkies all of starbucks coffee is organic. only three are actually "certified organic" (serena organic blend, organic shade grown mexico, and our fair trade estima blend) only three are certified b/c its super expensive for the farmers.
This totally made me want a caramel frap, so I treated myself this afternoon. I like em.
i'm not enough of a coffee nazi to go out of my way to find a starbucks, but i do love their seasonal flavors. only then do i stop in. i hate when i show up and i want a pumpkin spice or gingerbread latte and they're like "sorry, season's over" i say to myself "okay, see you next year"
ohhh i get it finally... "*$s" = star + bucks
not so quick on the uptake.
i think their coffee is way too strong.
i drink coffee from "On The Run" for 2 reasons:
1. I can make it myself
2. I don't have to order it and use Starbucks stupid words for "small", "medium", and "large".
It makes life much better for me.
1. you make starbucks coffee yourself
2. you dont have to order it any way. you can say "small" and we'll give it you.
starbucks makes life better.
yeah dude i use the word medium. If starbucks insisted on using their word i'd never go..
