Rules on calling Shotgun

I think everyone should read this. One of my pet peeves is when people call shotgun on the front seat long before it's even reasonable. Let's all get familiar with the official rules of Shotgun so that we can be happier together.

My favorite rules are the Hand on Door, Sit Down, The Balk, The Shotgun Gaper which is very prevalent in certain families... and also the Significant Others Exception. Very important. ;)
