eZabel Legacy

A username like "deathtognomes" tells you almost everything you need to know about Adam Crosbie's energy — loud, a little absurd, and impossible to ignore even when he wasn't saying much. Arriving in February 2004 from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, Adam burned through eZabel like a short fuse on a bottle rocket: 68 comments across just three months, then silence. But what a three months. He announced himself with a sprawling list of punk albums that read like a kid emptying his CD tower onto the floor — Bigwig, NOFX, Sublime, The Clash, Rise Against, Finch, Boy Sets Fire, Catch 22, Glassjaw, Thrice — and never really stopped talking about music after that. He started the Skate and Surf '04 thread, agonized over whether Sunday's lineup was worth the ticket price, and dispensed opinions on bands he hated with the same conviction he brought to the ones he loved. The Darkness, Simple Plan, Limp Bizkit, Staind, Korn, and especially Lars Ulrich all caught strays. His "How could you like Lars!?" became one of his most-debated posts, drawing beachbum and skaorsk8 into the fray. tinser, fivezero, and ophelia all vibed with his taste, swapping recommendations for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and Squeeze Me Macaroni.

For all that punk bravado, Adam had a quieter side that surfaced in bursts of copied-out lyrics — introspective, searching lines about praying for wings and throwing parties nobody came to. He was a Star Wars Expanded Universe nerd who championed Ysanne Isard's "pure genius" villainy, debated Final Fantasy installments down to the obscure Game Boy ports with perrin, and collected nicknames the way other people collected forum badges: Bowser, Phantom, Egg, Rusty, and the immortal Adman, which his whole family and a guy named Don apparently used — though perrin swore he'd never once heard it. That back-and-forth with perrin was the backbone of Adam's eZabel life; perrin's interaction score with him dwarfed everyone else's, a running buddy-comedy of "You're killing me, Adman" and gentle ribbing across Music Talk and General Chat. He read voraciously — 465 forum threads, 137 journals — far more than his comment count suggests, a lurker with a social butterfly's reach who touched threads with 70 different members before vanishing after April 2004 as quickly as he'd arrived.

eZabel Personality Type: ISFP — "The Bottle Rocket." Adam detonated onto the scene with punk-rock playlists and Star Wars hot takes, made one close friend in perrin, read everything, said just enough to be remembered, and disappeared before anyone could pin him down. Brief, bright, and unapologetically loud about the things he loved.
