eZabel Legacy
Nick Savacool from Waldwick, New Jersey joined eZabel in June 2003 and packed all 24 of his comments into a single year of enthusiastic participation. He was a regular at real-world eZabel events — thirteen in total, from the Summer '03 party and beach bonfire to manhunt games, LAN parties, Band From Society shows, and jp's annual Yankees Extravaganza — making him one of the most socially active members relative to his comment count. His closest eZabel connection was skaorsk8, with whom he debated boxing at the gym, traded Derek Jeter jokes, and planned paintball locations in West Milford, a suggestion that drew thatdarngirl's assessment: "Nooo West Milford..you people are odd out there." He also orbited malibu, forrestina, and rocksupastar, and struck up a warm back-and-forth with jay79 over shared shore-town roots — his family owned a house in Lavallette, and he spent most weekends at the beach.
Nick's writing had a sincere, unguarded quality that set him apart from the site's sarcasm merchants. His most memorable comment was a disarmingly honest description of long-distance phone calls: "I enjoy getting a phone call everyday and just talk for a couple of hours. then after the phone call i cry and remember that i am not in a dream anymore and have to get for work in the morning. then the depression kicks in until later on that night you make the phone call all over again." He turned 20 in December 2003 and complained about feeling stuck at 19 forever while his older friends went out without him. He was a beach kid, a sports fan, and a guy who showed up to every event he could — which, on a site full of people who talked more than they appeared, counted for a lot.
eZabel Personality Type: ESFJ — "The Shore Kid Who Showed Up." Nick was the member who attended more events than he wrote comments, who bonded with people over Applebee's after band shows rather than in forum threads, and whose sincerity made him stand out in a community that ran on banter. His single year on eZabel was brief but fully lived — he was there for the parties, the bonfires, and the manhunt games, and he said what he meant without dressing it up.
