its more like the other way around, guys are out to USE all the girls they can. at least in the world.
It's impossible and unreasonable to make that broad of a generalization. You have had a bad experience. However, I am sure there are guys who have had bad experiences with girls. These individuals ...
i think statistically though, guys in the world use girls in the world, more then vice versa...guys are more driven, and girls have a lot more to lose...but of course it happens both ways
I wouldn't say guys are more driven. And I think girls convince themselves that they have more to lose. Just because guys don't exhibit feelings the same way girls do doesn't mean they feel less. ...
Guys may not feel less, but I think most guys handle emotional pressure better than most girls do.
I don't think this is true..girls just show it at a sooner point.
I thought that's what I was saying.
No no..you said it takes less to make a girl upset. I'm saying that I don't think there is a difference in the amount it takes to get either gender upset but the difference lies in the way and when they show it. A girl and a guy can both be upset, the guy can act indifferent about it while the girl may go and cry.
But acting indifferent isn't really showing the emotion, is it? I guess the reason I think this is that I've been thinking recently about why God decided to put men in the headship role. It's certainly not that we're any smarter or better at making decisions or at handling other people's emotions (or really at any of the actual duties involved in headship). The only thing I can think of is that men may be better at handling the emotional stress coming from knowing that they are responsible for someone else's life. I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this subject, though.
I don't know if i agree with that. Women are amazing at handling all kinds of emotional stress. And most women have a better pain threshhold than men. Also, tons of women are mothers, right? So they are also responsible for someone else's life. Just because women have hormones that makes them cry easier, I don't think it means that they deal with stress less effectively than men. Actually....crying relieves stress. Some men tend to bottle it up and then they may eventually explode or break down. I was just thinkin you don't hear of that many women dictators or serial killers or psychos. I duno. It just seems to me and I firmly believe that women are emotional strongholds and sometimes it's the men that are emotional wrecks they just hold it all inside so no one knows. I duno if this is right it's just my opinion.
I remember the scripture that states that the head of the woman is the man... used to INFURIATE ME. And then that day in pioneer school when we spent half the day discussing the headship principle... it was amazing and changed my view on a lot of things. I came out of that thinking, that women are precious in God's eyes just like an expensive heirloom vase (or something similar) would be precious to a person. I loved it when the brother said, that the woman is a "weaker vessel" as in, a beautiful delicate vase, wherein the man is like a metal bucket you can kick around and stuff. It doesn't mean that the woman is actually weaker in any sense. She just needs to be taken care of differently than the man. When the man and woman understand the headship principle it makes a beautiful pair that perfectly complements each other. It's amazing.
Why would it infuriate you? I'm absolutely dreading the fact that if I ever get married or ever have responsibility in the congregation that I'll be someone's head. It's just an incredibly scary thought. I always thought it was incredibly loving on Jehovah's part not to have women have to deal with that.
Well when I was younger, like 17-19 I was all big into feminist issues and all that kinda stuff. I was kinda rebellious in a sense that I thought I would never let any man tell me what to do. Of course my view of that whole thing was very distorted, and I've matured A LOT since then, and while I still feel strongly about women's issues and think women deserve a lot more respect than they get in this world.. it's not my fight, and women in the truth most of the time ARE respected by fellow brothers and sisters and treated like they should be. Worldly men are a whole diffrent story.
i think a lot of girls feel this way...and one of the things that matures them is falling in love...its natural for women to be in subjection...so i think it naturally comes along with be in love.
I know I definetly did. At first it's just the thought of having someone have power over you I think, but that's not really the idea behind headship. Subjection doesn't have to mean powerless, and I think not everyone understands that.
i agree w/ that..but i've never felt that way. the headship arangment never bothered me...it was always kinda comforting i felt.
and as far as why men are elders and such..i do think it has to do w/ because they are less emotional. because when they have to decide to have someone DFed or reproved or something..i think they will be able to think more clearly and base it on principles rather than emotions.
Yeah..with sisters doing it they'd be like "aww..but..." and nothing would ever get done most likely.
Women deserve a lot more respect. And as far as guys who mistreat women... Well, my dad likes to say that they deserve "two bricks and a rusty knife".
You really can't figure it out? The bricks are for smashing something (actually a couple of things) and the knife is for cutting something off.
Whoah! I don't think cutting their "winkie" off is really gonna solve the problem. Hmm..or maybe it will.
where? ;) I kno where the Mepham football team would put em.
i think that from a worldy standpoint that scripture would be almost offensive, but like you guys have said that's because worldly people don't follow godly principles. the way the marital and family arrangement works best Jehovah's way
Crying relieves stress in women. It doesn't help me. If anything it gets me angrier and angrier until I do explode. Holding it in is the only way to maintain control. And after you've held it in for a while, the pain just slips away. Actually I think there is a fundamental difference in the way men's and women's emotions work. I think it's probably better for women to get their emotions out and it's better for men to bottle them up. (Besides, I have to hold onto the belief that men do something better than women. Women are superior in so many respects that it's nice when I can find something that we're better at. :) )
haha that's a good way of putting it, lol.
Also, seeing guys cry, makes me feel weird sometimes. Like it depends why of course. But sometimes it's just very weird. Like Bruce Willis in his guest role on Friends that one time. SO weird.
a guy friend asked me one time what i would do if i walked in the room and saw him crying and i really did have to think about it for maybe 3 minutes because it would be sooo odd to see. how do you react?
Guys always say that eeing girls cry makes them flip out, and from experience it does, but seeing a guy cry totally makes me flip out. Oh my goodness. At the end of pioneer school we had this very reflective brother who was serious about the truth, comment first about what he got out of pioneer school, and he started getting choked up, and that set it off. Everybody was bawling!
But all things in moderation. My dad used to have a study that I've seen cry many times, and that's rare for a grown man. I used to question his emotional stability. And he turned out to be abusive.
this is such a good point. Men see women cry and so can react in a certain way. SOME women even complain about mens reaction to it. But some women do have a problem with it. I Mean seriously you don't have to deal with it. It's almost immediate that a women will cry if she sees a man crying. Or not, i'm just generalizing from experience. NOT that i'm a cryer or i ever have cried....
just mainly when guys are crying there is a troubling and serious reason for it. something that should make you worry and you know its going to be so bad that you will cry.
Wow..that's just what I was trying to get at. You put it perfectly. I cry a lot and it helps me release any pent up emotions in side so I don't have all that garbage floating around in my head.
yeah, i think it's a great feeling to be in subjection to someone you love
I just thought it was ironic that I would hear this song while reading this post:
A man ain't made of stone
A man ain't made of steel
The way I feel right now
I thought I'd never feel
Sometimes all it takes
Is facing the night alone
And that's when you know
A man ain't made of stone
