On the Jazz Level:

Life is lonely again and only last year
Everything seemed so sure
Now life is awful again
A trough full of hearts could only be a bore

A week in Paris could ease the bite of it
All I care is to smile in spite of it

I'll forget you, I will while yet you are still
Burning inside my brain... romance is mush
Stifling those who strive

So I'll live a lush life in some small dive
And there I'll be
While I rot with the rest. of those Whose lives are lonely too.
.Johnney Hartman w/John Coltrane or Sinatra
..Lush life.
You have to buy the album and hear the song for yourself. My reprise can't capture it's shear splindidness..

Hip Hop Favs:

I an't no joke, i used to let the mic smoke.
Now I slam it when i'm done and make sure it's broke.
When i'm done, no one gets on, cause i won't let,
Nobody press-up, and mess-up, the scene I set...Rakim

Run on the track like Jesse Owens
Broke the record flowin, wit out any knowin'
that my wordplay won the 300 meter relay
it's on once i grab the batton from the dj
an athlete with his iron cleat in the ground
wireless brother, who sprint off the gun sound
the best time now still 7.0
Swift flow, made the camera man's clothes blow...The GZA/Wu tang

I start to think, and then I sink, into the paper, like i was ink.
When I'm writing i'm trapped in between the lines. I escape, when i finish the rhyme..Rakim

Its only natural, acutual facts are thrown at you, the impact will blow trees back and crack statues! Inspecta Deck/Wu Tang

i've always liked instrumental/straight ahead jazz sooo much more than jazz w/vocals...but that's cool though

I would say that i do also. The thing is, I love John Coltrane. I can listen to "Love Supreme" or "My favorite things over & over again. One day I thought..."It sure would be interesting to hear someone do vocals over Coltrane". Then I came across that album from my father. Johnny Hartman has a very laid back, dark room, acoustic, mellow, Cognac in one hand, ciggarette in the other type sound. It's beautiful. It's the colab of the two great traditionalist of that era.
