This is from Sundays newsday.
*The Beatles continue to exert their influence on popular music, sometimes in surprising ways. Punk, for instance, began as a total rejection of traditional rock (bassist Glen Matlock was supposedly ousted from The Sex Pistols for admitting he liked The Beatles), but it's been drifting back toward a pop sensibility. Recent albums from punk acts such as Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Dashboard Confessional all boast melodic lines and sweet harmonies, hallmarks of The Beatles' early work. "I can't tell you how much their music means to me," says Christopher Conley, 23, singer-guitarist for the emo- punk band Saves the Day, whose recent albums have won praise for their increasingly sophisticated songs. Conley says he was listening mainly to hardcore punk until about three years ago, when he happened upon an album of Beatles hits. "I just couldn't believe it," he says. "Once I had learned their chords, and I had the ear for it, I figured out I could do so much more."*
perfect article. when i try to explain this concept to some ppl, they try to talk me down. a lot of musicians have been influenced by the beatles. directly and indirectly.
yea, alot of people have been influenced by them. more then might admit. they were the best. ever!
I love the Beatles and they were a good influence on music. Sex Pistols, yeah they're punk..they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same article as Dashboard Confessional and GC.
yeah i was a little upset about that too.
