I LUV, I mean LUV hockey! Its my fav sport next to surfing/skating! I play, roller and ice. Not on a girls team but with the guys! I used to work for Mission Hockey and let me tell you, when the pros would visit i was in awe!
Man, my dad never let me play with the brothers in my hall CUZ I WAS A GIRL. I could only play with my younger bro and hockey isn't as fun with just two ppl. Plus, I have yet to master the hockey stop (somebody help me!)
Janine plays hockey with us most of the time. We've actually had a couple girls play with us. We get some pretty good games together around here.
that is really cool! Some of the bros here don't like to let the girls play here. Too much competition i guess - lol!
yeah dawn cunninham, she's a brick wall. but she needs to get on skates. she's too good on foot.
Yeah we have to get that girl to play on skates to level out the playing field. So when are we gonna get a real game together. Yesterday was fun and all but I want a real game.
hm that is a tough one. a friday night would be better but who knows if the lights will actually be on. possibly the last sunday in feb. but, we may have to wait til march.
Bah. I want to play. We are going to be so rusty by the time we get a real game together.

Beleive me, I still haven't mastered "the" stop. LOL I can do it when i don't think about it, like when i'm in the middle of a play, but if i think about it, i can't do it. it's crazy i know! LOL
Well, I was never allowed to play either. I guess my parents thought it was too violent.
We don't play very physically. To some extent we do but nothing major. Once in awhile there might be a little push or shove maybe a small check a long the boards but nothing that anyone is going to get hurt by. The guys know better than to check the girls or hit them. If anyone ever did they would have everyone all over them.:)
Guys have no mercy with the girls. the guys on my team protect me, but i can hold my own. I don't want special treatment, i'm playing with the boys so all is fair.
I don't mean they get special treatment at all. I just mean as far as being physical. ex: checking along the boards or a little mild hip check. I don't care if your a girl when I'm defending I'm not putting any less effort into taking the puck from you. There's no special treatment here. Janine can attest to that. She has been knocked down a few times of course they were accidents and mostly from her brothers.
They take no mercy as far as checking, high sticking, etc. I've even been speared too - lol
I got the wind knocked out of me a few times...lol The only way i cheat a little is in the face off circle, you give a quick wink and smile and the puck is yours! lol
lol. That's just wrong. There really isn't that much checking or anything along those lines when we play anyway.
But what's the point of playing hockey if you're not going to be checking?

I didn't say there isn't any but we play friendly games. You start checking and going at each other and someone is bound to go overboard or get mad. I just check myself into the boards from time to time just to get the real hockey experience.
yeah there are a lot of highsticks though. everyone gets hurt enough even when there isn't a lot of checking. however, i must say i was amazed when josh took jimmy down-a guy like twice his size. jimmy needs to get checked more.
Yeah that was in a aword amazing. I thought Josh was going to get leveled. Maybe Jimmy is just getting old. The only way to stop him is to take the body.

lol. It's pretty funny when it's your own brothers who take you out 9 out of 10 times. Then other people throw themselves to the ground to keep from knocking you over. Of course I enjoy throwing myself to the ground so I guess that's different.lol.
most of the time i just run into everyone else and knock myself over. but yeah, i know. and they are like a herd of moose. i bet they are just getting me back for beating them all up when they were younger. although it's pretty funny if i come back after them they scream and run away.
