I think in your last sentence you hit the nail on the head, in our time. Back in the day when the woman stayed home and took care of the house and the kids cooking was an important skill. But that doesn't apply to anything anymore.

It's working together. I enjoy cooking and if I was home first I'd prepare the meal. Why make it rough for my wife who just had an hour commute, and now she has to cook dinner?
