Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite movies of all time - it is about SO much more than candy... lol.
So Veruca Salt was gonna be my name, but that was to much of a throw back to the band - but VioletBoregaurd was second to none so I took her name instead... allrighty tighty I'm out.
You know they're re-doing that right? It's going to be called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Johnny Depp plays Willy Wonka. Should be awesome!
I don't know. I have trouble picturing him as willie wonka.
Why? The guy can act just about any type of role, he can play a perfect lunatic. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Ed Wood proved that.
Yeah I know he's a good actor I just can't picture him in that role is all.
the writer who did the new treatment of the willy wonka book never saw the Gene Wilder version. he went on the book alone. he finally watched the movie and he said his draft came out much lighter than the Gene Wilder flick. either Tim Burton is gonna do a very dark and creepy rewrite, or he's gonna make a LIGHTER version of the film from a visionary writer who's mind isn't tainted with visuals from the original film. i can't wait to see how this goes.
I hope he doesnt wreck it - the gene wilder one was dark enough that it was still very light and fun... I didn't see the underlying stuff till i was way older and jaded. lol/jk
I think Johnny Depp would be PERFECT. he's awesome in the quirky roles the only thing that I'm going to be scared of are the oompa loompas, they'll probably make them more scarier than the original...
Not sure about scary as much as psychodelic. But being orange and short munchkins was psychodelic in it's own rights.
Either way with Burton doing it and Depp as Willy Wonka it should be incredible.
