what is shrapnel?
shrapnel is stuff that is inside of a bomb that destroys everything in its path when the bomb explodes. it could be slivers of metal, or even nails or screws.

what my original reply was meant to be, is a comedic form known as irony. Since Bolivia has been known as a war torn country in years past, I thought it would be ironic to ask Ian to 'bring me back some shrapnel' as a souvenir. I have never been to Bolivia, so I can't say if my statements are acurate, however, I hope you have at least found them to be amusing.
