right, so at this point it's not 'what is bad for us?' the question would be 'what is better for us?'
A scientist I once worked with loved fighting with me on this issue stating it was bad for me to eat a daily salad because of the pesticides and chemicals used. I responded that everything was unhealthy for us just about, heh then told him my salad is healthier than that plate of french fries and pizza he was eating.
pesticides can also be washed off. grease on french fries and pizza - can't really be rinsed.
well i never washed the inside of a banana before :) produce does absorb somewhat...
but you can buy organic vegetables and fruit (reminds me of the awake about farming talked about this) that is supposedly chem free
