I like those suggestions... I would like to add one, though... a directory so you can go to a user's profile page. Right now, I have to search musings and find a user, then click on their name and go to the profile page...
that's a good suggestion. would anybody want their name not displayed on that list? should it only display users that have been active in the past month or so?
as a weak workaround, a convenient way to get links to usernames it on the Top 20 Users page.you can also click on yourown profile, and in the URL address, change the username after the "user_id=" to the one you want to see

i usually go to the inbox to find the list of users. but you're right, you need to have a way to eliminate 'stale' accounts. maybe three months would be better. some people just take a month off, you know.
actually, i don't know what kind of info u plan to have accessible in our profile, but to keep outsiders outside, maybe there can be a 'favorite users' list that we each have. and to add to that list, we would select a name, then a message would be sent to that person allowing them to allow or deny the addition.
why would each person have their own user list of others? that makes no sense.

Not a buddy list, I didn't say that (actually, you did, Brian)... just a page that had a directory of sorts that would list all the users, then you could click on the user name you are looking for and that would take you to their profile.

doesn't that get away from the whole concept? i mean, we can all use IM's now. the musings is a cool way to see what other people are talking about, and contribute if we want. if we had an IM, then what's the point.
well, same thing with the Inbox and Chat room on here. You can just use email, and AIM Chat Rooms (etc.). Instant Messenging on eZ would be very cool, cause you don't know everybody's screen names on AIM/MSN/ICQ/whatever, and some people don't even use that stuff. You could just see somebody on the site, click on their name, and IM or eZ Msg them... pretty neat idea.
