well I dont know about that. I guess it could mean those things. But I do know that the more responsible you are the more it does build character. So in a way your parents are right. As for there intentions you know them better than me.
This is not true. Maybe the more responsible you are you build "good" character. You can certainly build character doing nothing!

Mmm..its kinda like silent construction.
My mom doesn't just tell me to do something, she actually shows me the right way to do it. By the end i've learned something valuable that I can use later in my grown life, like cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, laundry really is an art-form by the way....lol, i'm still not great at it ;) sometimes you can tell she just doesn't want to do something & thats when it annoys me but i'm basicly glad i know how to do all those things.
