That's what I was thinking. Take her ring shopping so she's not totally thrown off guard (and so you know what kind of ring she likes) and then just don't give it to her for a while so she kind of isn't expecting it as much.

You could start dropping hints and asking questions now (like does she like gold or platinum, what cut would she prefer, etc.), and so she'll think it's coming up soon. Then you could still have the element of surprise, by her not knowing what the ring looks like, and you'll have thrown her off by waiting until....next year, you said? Yeah.
Anyways, if you ask the questions now, she'll think it's coming soon, and then when it doesn't happen, she'll not think about it as much. That's what I was getting at.
yeah well so far i know she doesnt like gold. Neither do I. Gold reminds me of the 1980's and Scrooge McDuck.
My sister doesn't like gold either but she loves copper so my now brother in law actually made her wedding band out of copper for her and she loves it. My point being it doesn't matter what it's made of as long as it's what they are going to like.

what about platinum? platinum rings are gorgeous!!! i don't like gold but there's something about platinum that can make any ring look gorgeous!
platinum is so much nicer than gold. i just do not like gold. i like the platinum cuz it shines more. white gold is good but it costs too much. and speaking of price, why are diamonds soo much? i'd rather have a nicer honeymoon than a diamond. bands are just as nice.
platinum is very nice, but very expensive. if you are on a limited budget or would rather spend the $$ on a bigger diamond, consider white gold. also, find out what shape of diamond she likes-may be very importante.
This is a good point. My husband got me platinum, and spared no expense. But when I went to get his ring, I was on a slightly tighter budget than he was. So I went with white gold. You really can't tell a difference looking at it, and it was significantly less expensive.
