nirvana sucked. that dude was super whiny.

In my mind Nirvana was over rated. Maybe I'm just bias cause I don't think Corgan got the recognition he deserved sitting in Nirvana's shadow. I also related to Pumpkins music more then Nirvana's. ...

No it wasnt all about drugs I can show you many of his songs and lyrics that wreren't. Your probaly not a big nirvana fan so your statement was based on surface knowledge. He did have songs about drugs that very true.

Smashing pumpkins were a different kind of music, Meaning when I listen to nirvana and pumpkins they both gave me different feelings and directions. They pretty much had the same fan base.

Corgan deffiently got his props, he has a whole generation that where inspired and will keep listening to him till the day they die. I know alot more people that like the pumpkins then dont.

They are awesome though I am a big pumpkins fan. Corgan was coming from a different direction then Kurt was.

If you wanna get technical about it bands like pixies, mudhoney and nirvana where the dawn of grunges popularity. Grunge as alwyas been around its called hard rock. If sabath came out in the 90's they would call it grunge.

But they call it metal cause ozzy is associtaed with it. Cause there is no way black sabbath's sound would be called metal by todays standard, if they came out today.

haha wow. Well I mean impressive is the knowledge of Jphaser on this. Anyways I am going to say that i agree with him. Pearl Jam I wouldn't call flannel. I think the whole flannel thing started when they got all these imitations of Pearl Jam such as Seven Mary Three, Candlebox etc... I mean I like those bands too but I guess if you know the history you see all kinds of different music blended. I mean for crying out loud. Jack Irons recruited Eddie Vedder for Pearl Jam. Irons was in the Red Hot Chili Peppers and then in mid 90's became PJ's drummer. When he found Eddie, Eddie was in Cali in a band with Brad Wilk the drummer from Rage Against The Machine and now Audioslave with Chris Cornell from Soundgarden who was also in Temple of the Dog with Eddie Vedder. Yeah that sounds confusing but those guys all jammed together back then. They all had different styles. The whole PJ Nirvana feud was because Gossard and Ament were in Mother Love Bone which sounded 80's hair band like and had a flabuoyant singer Andrew Wood. However previous to that band those 2 were in Green River with Arm and Turner from Mudhoney. So thats how this all spilled out in the early 90's.

Read Jesse's comment again, he said not all their songs were about drugs.
