I think I agree with Joey Cape (lead singer of Lagwagon) that The Beatles are one of the most overated bands of all time. Right before covering "strawberry fields" he says, "we take a kinda crappy...

i agree that they are really overrated but theyre still good

Yeah, this is where I stand. I give respect where it's due, but their success was more due to the time and place than amazing talent. It counts though. They did amazing things. Their music, TEC...

yeah. IMO, they changed the world. which counts for a lot. so it just depends on what you're talking about when you say they're overrated.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

I agree that they've changed the world. And they've shown us that it doesn't amazing talent or style to do so.

as a hardcore beatles fan i will rationally and reasonably respond to this comment. i agree that they are overrated in the sense that it's kinda trendy to say you are a beatles fan. it's cool to say you are into a band that helped lay the foundation of rock today and the beatles got tons of exposure for this. but the trendy fans who talk a mess about the beatles are the ones that know two songs.

i am a fan of the beatles cuz their music was simple and fun and the stories surrounding their songs are interesting. it was a cool time in history, bands today just don't have that kind of chaos surrounding them anymore.

I, personally, am unaware of how they "changed the world", or at least the world of music...

They must have been a success for some reason. And, like I said, I love the Sgt. Pepper album. I'm all about being fair. I don't think the beatles were out of this world musicians. That's why I think they are overated. There are many more technically talented musicians than the beatles in this world.

Usually the most technically talented bands only appeal to other musicians. There's some real talent that's popular, too, these days....it's just much more rare. This is where I think the beatles don't make the cut, because I appreciate more technical music. That's MY OPINION.

On the other hand, there are few who capture the love of the world, and become considered "the best band in the world". For this I give them a lot of credit. It's not an easy thing to make a living in the field of music. They did it. They did it big time. Kudos to them.

I hope this explains where I stand on the beatles.

I agree with this 100% Keyword: "technically"

good, I'm glad I made that clear. : )

i'm no musician myself, but I can appreciate talented musicians and I like to think i know what quality tunes sound like. while the beatle's songs are catchy and creative. i find the music to be very flat. some of it is VERY, VERY good though.

ok, i'm looking at what i'm writing and i, uh, just need to stop writing. BAH to all of it...everyones a critic...

i totally agree with you. i never said they changed the world or were out of this world musicians. i just like em cuz i do.
