I never saw it but I heard it was a brilliant movie.... I think it came out in the early '80's... but Reiser and Bacon weren't unknowns... Reiser was in Beverly Hills Cop and Bacon was in Footloose...

i believe beverly hills came out a couple of years after diner. same thing with footloose. at the time of diner, these guys were fairly new actors. other newcomers in diner were steve guttenberg, ...
