We'll start in the Punk Genre: NOFX, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Strung Out, NUFAN. All amazing.

You Want Specific examples?

NOFX:

"Reeko", "Dinosoars Will Die", "Thank God its Monday", "The Seperation of Church and Skate" from the "The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us)" CD

"Irrationality of Rationality" and "American Errorists" from the "War on Errorism" CD.

Other amazing songs by NOFX:
"The Quass", "Whatever Didi Wants", "Falling in Love", and "Perfect Government"

And Many More!

Bad Religion:

"Supersonic", "Evangeline", are just some of their amazing songs. So many of these songs are great! But they are great as a whole, not necessarily just one part stands out. The drumming, the guitar playing, and they way the lyrics mix in, make this band outstanding. And many more!

Lagwagon:

"Burn", and "Billionaire" from the "Blaze" CD.

"Rust", "Coffee & Cigarettes", and "Dischord" from the "Trashed" CD.

And Many More!

Strung Out:

"Matchbook", and "Deville" from the "Twisted By Design" CD.

"Scarlet", "Analog", "Skeletondanse" and pretty much every other song off of the "Exile in Oblivion" CD.

"Everyday", "Savant", and "Mission to Mars" off the "Elements of Sonic Defiance" CD.

And Many More!

NUFAN:

"Angela", and "International You Day" are terrific from the "Hard Rock Bottom" CD

"Justified Black Eye", and "51 Days" are great older songs from the "Leche con Carne" CD.

"Chasing Rainbows", and "Not Your Savior" from the "More Betterness" CD.

"On the Outside" from the "Making Friends" CD.

And Many More!

any other classic punk besides bad religion??

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder

how classic do you want me to go? I didn't get into punk until '95ish. I should have put Face to Face in there, too...

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

oh really? i'm sorry....i thought you were into the earlier punk too like GBH, DRI, TSOL.....

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder

who are they?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

you're kidding right? never heard of black flag? circle jerks? agent orange? all the same classic punk!

those are my bands. hit a lot of those shows back in the 80's. LOL *i'm so old - lol

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder

I know who THOSE bands are, though I've never really listened to them. (black flag, circle jerks, and agent orange) But I don't recognize those acrynonyms (GBH, DRI, or TSOL).

i'll burn you some songs when i get a chance.

TSOL, DRI and GBH are early 80's punk bands that were influential to a lot of the later punk bands....NOFX, face to face....

So DRI. That name sounds so familiar. I think NOFX sings about them in one of their songs. Anyway, I was listening to them, and they remind me of "sick of it all". They're pretty cool.

i dig them!!! i used to have a jacket that had their "symbol" on it. LOL yeah it was the early 80's. thought i was cool....LOL

Bands of Undetermined Genres:

RX Bandits (they are sort of like the police and sublime...mixed):

"Dinna-Dawg (And the Inevitible Onset of Lunacy)" and "Never Slept So Soundly" off of "The Resignation" CD.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (a band that takes blues, bluegrass, jazz, and funk, all fuses them into one. Rarely any singing): (thing to look for: Bass. This bass player is one of the sickest I've ever heard.)

"Leaning Tower" from their "Little Worlds" CD (Disk 2)

"Next", "Snatchin", and "Sleeper" from their "Little Worlds" CD (Disk 3)

And Many More...In fact the bass player, Victor Wooten, has done a lot of stuff on his own (more of a Rock genre, but it definitely varies):

"Are you ready, baby?", "My Life" and TONS of other amazing things he does from the "Victor Wooten: Live in America" CD disk 1. (live as in, he plays live in front of an audience. He's amazing)

Also from Rx Bandits off Progress:
In all Rwandas Glory. Such an amazing song.

Classical Guitar Genre

Here are some KICK BUTT musicians. They can do stuff on a guitar that will blow you away.

Leo Kottke
Stephen Bennett
Tommy Emmanuel
Clive Cussler

I saw the last 3 guys live. It was WOW. Stephen Bennett was amazing, and really funny. Tommy Emmanuel is disgusting. He played "dixie" and "yankee doodle" on his guitar at the same time. AT THE SAME TIME! He was a little cocky, though. I want to go see Leo Kottke play live sometime...who's with me?
