I personally think sentimental things are important to keep around, and wouldn't mind it if my wife had pictures of her ex around. They're part of her life.
If she was like framing pictures of her and her ex hugging, and putting them on her nightstand, then I would be a little weirded out.
If she had pictures of her and her ex hugging and whatever, and they were in a shoebox somewhere, no big deal. These things happened, and our memory fades. I think it's cool to have pictures of the past, it can help you remember what you were like then, or whatever.
The important thing is that your boy/girlfriend is with you now, not their ex.
