Tattoos.Yum.Addicting.Forver.Love

Theres a few people in my hall who have tattoos from before they were witnesses and some people who were born in the truth are jealous and want tattos very badly, citing a recent watchtower saying ...

there was a brother i knew who is married with kids who got tatoos, he cited the awake article. even though it is a concience matter, i think its still dumb to get them because you could stumble somebody else. and theyre just stupid, you're stuck with them for life. my worldly uncle who's in his mid forties went through the painful process of having all his removed because after a while he just hated them. they fade after a while and just look stupid. my dad got a spider tatooed on his shoulder when he was younger... now it just looks like a green blob

for me, i like tat's.....but they can't be like "sleeves" or anythign like that. I don't look down on ones who do get them...its their decision.

my dad has a few (he's now almost 70) and they still look pretty cool. Even though now he's older and more frail than the spunky young whipper snapper he used to be.....they still look pretty cool. to me it jsut shows he was young once and he still has that "tough guy" look even in his condition.

uh, i don't mean to start a war here, but if you read hte article CLOSELY, it doesn't mention it as a conscience matter...

i kinda think you're right

I don't know..I didn't get that it wasn't from the article. Being that almost everything is a conscience matter with us and that it just emphasises that one should think about it very carefully before doing it.

the idea of a tattoo doesnt interest me personally. i dont like the idea of permanent body art. im too fond of change. but here is what struck me from the article: Significantly, the Mosaic Law forbade God’s people to tattoo themselves. Said Leviticus 19:28: “You must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah.” Pagan worshipers, such as the Egyptians, tattooed the names or symbols of their deities on their breast or arms. By complying with Jehovah’s ban on tattoo markings, the Israelites would stand out as different from other nations.—Deuteronomy 14:1, 2.
While Christians today are not under the Law of Moses, the prohibition it laid on tattooing is sobering. (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14, 15) If you are a Christian, you would certainly not want to make markings on your body—even temporarily—that smack of paganism or false worship.

its like mitch hellengberger said: i wish having long hair was not associated with drug use but something else like extreme longing for cake. even if one likes the idea of a tattoo, most people associate them with deviant culture and what christian would choose to do that? Consider also whether choosing to get a tattoo would enhance or undermine your claim of being a Christian. Could it be a “cause for stumbling” others?

the thing is, it was the mosaic law, which we are no longer under. however its like getting a mohawk or going to nightclubs or anything else where it doesnt say anything explicitly

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

oh, um, hehehe *pats down mohawk*

reaf reafOG 2002

ha ha , funny you mention mohawks, I was going to get one over the weekend for a girls night out.(which was such a blast) but alas my hairdresser didnt show. But I got something equally as cool. I love mohawks, my kid is definatly having them up to 5 yrs old I'll allow it. (not the shaved head kind of mohawks, btw)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

the chick who won from america's next top model had a mohawk and she looked gorgeous

reaf reafOG 2002

ha ha NICE, I'd love to do something like that with my hair, but it may be to long.
I'm surprised she won, she is not a naturally pretty girl, she needed makeup to make her. to me anyway I only saw one episode so I could be wrong, she did look the coolest when done up though.

Yeah, I totally understood that. I don't think it makes the best impression (or even a good one) for being a christian, but at the same time..a lot of things people do can have the same effect. Same goes for stumbling people.

Personally, not a fan of tattoos. I don't feel the need to push the envelope either. But if someone is going to get one that's their choice and I am not stumbled by it and I'm not going to criticize what someone elses' conscience allows them to do.
