If you find yourself dealing with an unexpected backstory, and a preponderance of exposition, then you are dealing with the concluding chapter of a trilogy. True trilogies are all about going back ...

it's dumb that everyones going for trilogies. why not just keep making good movies!? make 5 good x-men movies. let the stories breaatthhe.

Before you suggest making 5 movies on the same storyline, may I point out Episode 2 for you?

fivezero Mar 10, 2006

you're referring to the star war flick? attack of the clones? i can't say i dug the last three star wars flicks. i'm sad the x-men franchise is about to crap the bed and die. brett ratner is me...

dgiaimo Mar 10, 2006

That was sorta my point. Episode 2 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It just doesn't seem possible to keep a good franchise going. Then again, there are exceptions (e.g., Star Trek).

you think episode 2 was better than episode 1?

No it was much worse. I was giving an example of a series where the fifth movie was absolutely horrible. (Well, the fifth made movie anyway, Episode 5 is awesome, probably the best of them all.)
