GET IT. Get some noise cancelling headphones. get the DLO Transpod Doc k for the car (est. $99). Get the iHome Docking Station (est. $99). You will love it.

See, my 40G player was $170, my FM transmitter was $20, and I bought a $3 RCA cable to hook it into my home stereo. That's why I think ipods are such a rip off.

superhero superheroOG 2004

no no you don't get it.

The DLO Transpod is no ordinary FM Transmitter. It's a dock that works in any car off the cigarette lights, it has its own built in amplifier, can work on any radio station, and can be heard almost 100 ft away from the car. Meaning that I'm my own independent radio station in traffic. Sometimes, when Lauren and I had to take 2 cars everywhere (READ: Chaperones unavailable) she'd say to me later "what were you listening to, the Beatles?" and i'd be like ... uh ... yeah

The iHome Dock is a clock radio that docks your iPod - it allows you to wake up to playlists, or the radio, or whatever you want, really. It sounds AMAZING, plus it's standalone. I can bring the party wherever I waaaaaaaant! Plus it came with a bunch of RCA cables to hook up to whatever.

Seriously,

Hmm..maybe I should get this. I find the itrip useless and was thinking of putting a tape player back in my car just so I could listen to my Ipod through it. I don't have $99.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

Yeah, my FM transmitter and RCA cable do exactly the same thing. My car speakers are already really good, so a built in amp is not necessary, as are my speakers at home, where my reciever has front RCA inputs, so it's not a big deal to switch the wires.

Seriously, I think apple has taken you all for a ride.

i was researching alot about this last night di... looking at what you have and reviews... and i hate to say it but, Apple just makes a better product. Sure its expensive, but it also is designed much better. Your's can do some of the same things, but Apple makes more accessories and it is more tried and true then Creative is....

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

Well, it's really what you want to use it for. I won't deny that apple's product is good, but all I need is something that can play music, so for me, creative works. I'm just saying I don't like the way apple has all these proprietary accessories that they make the public think they "need". Plus, Creative has designed sound cards for computers for over 15 years, so I think they're very experienced in that capacity.

I mean, if you want to pay an extra $400 for something that's "designed better", that's your call.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

lol sure... you could buy a car from Ford... OR you can have me design it for you... REAL cheap... which would you rather drive in?

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

What? Are you saying I should get rid of my ford and get a well-designed Saturn? You're such a maroon.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder web-toedchloe

what does Saturn have to do with my illustration... how about you re-read what i said and then think about it for a few days and get back to me...

Your illustration is poor; I was mocking it. If the car you designed worked just as well and was cheaper, I'd buy it. That's what capitalism is, Stalin.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

where'd you get the DLO guy?

superhero superheroOG 2004

best buy, b/c i was on a trip and desperate.

I've used my DLO in ... Chicago (went there for 2 weeks on business), from NJ to Pittsburgh and back (man that's a long ride), LA to Vegas (4 AM to 8 AM across the desert listening to Goldfinger, WOOT!), and across Puerto Rico as the sun came up! Different cars every time ..

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

i've just been using a casette adapter. haha some of the ghetto-ness in me will never die. it hums sometimes though. i definitely want a real deal.

superhero superheroOG 2004

the realest deal, so to speak, would be something the directly inputs into your car stereo. if you have an aftermarket face with line-in jacks, you're golden - the cable costs $5 and you're done.

if the car has a factory radio - check out - http://www.cardomain.com/item/PACAUXPOD

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

thanks for the tip. i'm just remembering that my friend got one of these specifically made for VW and i think it was like $60 so i might look into that also.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Whoah whoah! Run this by everyone again please, in simpler terms.

My CD player is not factory installed..I could easily get an Ipod thingy that would play it directly?

most head units have some sort of Auxiliary Input. Aiwa ones are even nicer in that they put the aux input on the front of the head unit, but most have them on the back. You can plug in a headphone wire into your iPod, and the other end into the head unit directly, or into an RCA cable converter and go from there.

depends on your head unit.

PROTIP: Head phone wires are known as "stereo mini". You can use a male to male Stereo Mini cable to do the job.
