I buy a lot of music, I don't pirate it anymore. I just buy everything from iTunes. Last 3 I got were:

The Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia
The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls
Calexico & Iron & Wine - In the Reins - EP

I have this thing were I'll really like one or two songs so I'll buy what ever I can find. I got the first DD album because of hearing Coin Operated Boy which I love. Then I heard their new song called Sing and just fell in love with it. And I got into Iron & Wine after buying the In Good Company Soundtrack because I really wanted to have the Peter Gabriel song, Salsbury Hill. I can't buy 1 song for .99 cents when you can get 12 for $9.99.

Others I recently bought were more Iron & Wine, Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits, Guns and Roses Greatest Hits, Elton John Box, and Glenn Miller (it was $6 at Best Buy).

oh! i am loving iron and wine lately. can't wait to see the dolls next month. :) also, their dvd is great.

Yeah, I fell in love with The Trapeze Swinger and I had to go out and buy every Iron & Wine album I could find.

i had only downloaded them and itunes got corrupted. :( now i only have the creek drank the cradle. so much music, so little time.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

Did you try checking for downloaded music to see if it would redownload it?

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

i had someone scour the comp for me and it wasn't there. i just started from scratch. i own most of the albums in my itunes so i didn't loose a crazy amount of stuff.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

Its still frustrating though. I finally had to go out and get an external hard drive to back up my library. My laptop almost had to get wiped and I would have been so upset if I was going to lose it all. I have about 50 gigs of music.

You should buy through eMusic instead. 40 songs for $10 a month. They have an awesome selection too. But, let me know if your interested, so I can give the referral and get 50 free downloads myself.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

What format do they come in?

I just hate tieing myself to a commitment like that. What if I don't want to buy any songs this month? Then I'm screwed out of the $10.

theremin thereminOG 2002

They come in mp3 format, listenable within any mp3 player, on an unlimited amount of computers, iPods or other like device, and bur n on as many CDs as you'd like to. If you're someone that buys one CD a month or more like I used to, emusic is a good alternative, 'cause you might otherwise easily spend more than 10 dollars on one CD... unless it's like BMG or something... but that BMG thing is commitment thing too. I signed up a few years ago for eMusic when they had unlimited downloads actually. Then, they were bought out, and the new company put the limit at 40 d/l's. I kept it tho, since now, they have tons more in their library... and 40 for 10 is still an ok deal. I used to pay 13 dollars a month for Sirius radio.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

Yeah, and that's another thing, I just bought Sirius, and I'm loving it. Left of Center is like the greatest station. Though I can see now that I'm finding new bands with it and I'm totally willing to go get the CD now.

I might check it out. But I don't want to have any more monthly payments on anything.

theremin thereminOG 2002

Oh yeh, having both Sirius and eMusic would b e a prob, that'd be 23 bucks a month on top of your other bills if Sirius is still 13/month. I only got eMusic after canceling Sirius. I do miss having Sirius tho. You just gave me a flashback, when you said "Left of Center." I remember that station. Loved it. Still have the equipment all connected in my car, so if I ever am able to afford it again, I just make the phone call to start service back up. eMusic is a better deal than iTunes tho. 99 cents a song or 10 dollars an album is not much of a deal.

Compared to buying a CD in a store, its a bargain. CD's today are about $16 on sale and like $24 brand new.

theremin thereminOG 2002

Yeh, I mean.. 10 dollars for an album is good.. but isn't as attractive against the cost of eMusic. But, I guess if you don't spend 10 dollars on music every month now, then don't get it. However, if you are getting like 3 albums a month.. eMusic would be better, since it'd be like 10 bucks vs. 30 bucks. By the way, I saw your brother maybe about a month ago.

yeah, i just bought the two Dresden Dolls off Itunes. I had some of the songs downloaded already (Limewire) but I wanted to actually buy them and support the band. Amanda's lyrics blow my mind. Her voice is sometimes atrocious but it's unique and I love it.

Girl Anachronism, Bad Habit, My Alcoholic Friends, Sing, Coin Operated Boy... some of my favorite songs right now
