What are the last three albums you purchased?

Gruff Rhys (of Super Furry Animals) - Yr Atal Genhedlaeth
Peter, Bjorn And John - Falling Out

Artist - Album
==============
Lau Nau - Nukkuu
Simple Kid - 2
Normanoak - A Double Gift of Tongues
Normanoak - Born a Black Diamond
Wildbirds & Peacedrums - (2 songs) 'Doubt/Hope' * 'I Can't Tell In His Eyes'
Is one of these the Japanese sound effect band? LOL!
I'm willing to share, but I hope someone appreciates the time it took to do this
Lau Nau is the name that Laura Naukkarinen, Finnish singer/songwriter uses & like a solo version of Amiina (probably doesn't help that you don't know Amiina tho) Appreciate in all it's ethesurrealibeauty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXDKO9v8hSc
Simple Kid (Ciarán McFeely) is like an Irish Beck (but find that music yourself)
Normanoak is Punkish Psychedelic (as well as folklike) music from Indiana (I think) musician Chris Barth.(of The Impossible Shapes as if that'll help you any)... but 'Born a Black Diamond' is a lo-fi folkish 4-track recording. His influences are from Syd Barrett (Early Pink Floyd) just as much as Hank Williams. There's 2 free tracks for download @ http://music.download.com/normanoak/3600-8575_32-100376388.html (listen with caution as I don't know the content of those songs)
And perhaps the most mocked is gonna be my recently discovered percussion and vocals only Swedish, Wildbirds & Peacedrums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi4y_wyov6Q
But hey, I think this stuff is awesome!
i got your peacedrums right here, pal
The Solo album, Awyren = Aeroplane by Cerys Matthews (of Catatonia fame). I can not wait to listen to this!

I treated myself yesterday. I bought this massive awesome box collection that Rhino Records just released.. I heard about on it NPR a couple days ago. The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
Not only awesome tracks by awesome artists... also a very attractive Box set that I love holding and staring at & comes with an awesome looking booklet that I didn't get to read yet but have thumbed through and made me happy.
Like 78 songs across 4 Discs including artists:
The Smiths, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen, Spacemen 4, The Primitives, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Inspiral Carpets, The Sundays, Ride, Lush, Pale Saints, Manic Street Preachers, Suede, New Order, Blur, Saint Etienne, Stereolab, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, The La's, Super Furry Animals, The Divine Comedy, Catatonia, The Verve, Placebo, & many more.
If you can part with the money, and love post-punk Brit music from the last 15 years of the 20th century (* tho good in their own right, you won't find Keane & Coldplay on this piece), get it! (It'll set you back 50 - 65 dollars, but well worth it in my mind)
I bought it at the FYE store in Quaker Bridge Mall on my way to work but to give you a tip, you can get it on Amazon.com for about 14 bucks cheaper if you're interested.
My newest emusic ablums..

Has the classic "A New England":
"I was twenty one years when I wrote this song
Im twenty two now, but I wont be for long
People ask when will you grow up to be a man
But all the girls I loved at school
Are already pushing prams
I loved you then as I love you still
Tho I put you on a pedestal,
They put you on the pill
I dont feel bad about letting you go
I just feel sad about letting you know
I dont want to change the world
Im not looking for a new england
Im just looking for another girl
I dont want to change the world
Im not looking for a new england
Im just looking for another girl
I loved the words you wrote to me
But that was... yesterday
I cant survive on what you send
Every time you need a friend
I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care
I dont want to change the world
Im not looking for a new england
Im just looking for another girl"
finally got the new jack johnson....love it!
"Go On" is my favorite track. By far. so good. the rest is not so memorable. where are all the fun tracks?
If you like Duran Duran, do not buy their new album. It's almost as bad as their Thank You album from the mid 90's. Their Astronaut album from 2004 was great, had the rhythm of their old stuff with a new twist. This new one.... OMG... Justin Timberlake collaberated with them and ruined it... It sounds like hip hop. Why they continue to change things around from album to album is beyond me. They need to stick to what people want to here. Take your creative nonsense elsewhere... I want to hear stuff like A View to A Kill and The Reflex except done differently, but keeping a similiar feel. They accomplished that with their last album. This new one is crap...
Ok... getting past the fact that Justin Timberlake influenced this album. Not so bad the second time through, but still not even close to classic Duran Duran.
This song is off the album. One of only two tracks that I like. Oh well. Not a total loss. This is a great song.
"Why they continue to change things around from album to album is beyond me. They need to stick to what people want to here. Take your creative nonsense elsewhere.."
good lord, have you ever thought that maybe bands don't care what you or any of their fans think. when it comes to art or music, the artist is his own audience. if he likes the final product then that's all that matters. writing music just to appeal to certain group of retards is called selling out. wishing that a band was less creative is the dumbest thing i have heard in a long time.
My point is, why would you divert from what makes you successful? They went in a good direction with their last album. Now this one has a few good tracks, but it is over the top with some hip hop type sounds. Bands need to be creative but yet keep their identities. Is that a better answer for you? Half the tracks did not sound anything like Duran Duran.
You have to make sure people like the product Alex. If I came out with a line of mens cologne, it has to smell good for people to want to buy it. It doesn't matter if I like it. If making music is all simply about being pleased with your own work, then don't sell it.
So what I said is not dumb, maybe over the top, but I have a point.
good bands always try to change up their sound. if all the previous albums sound the same then why buy all of them. just buy one of them if you never get sick of listening to the same thing all the time. the reason bands change is because they don't want to get stagnant. sometimes the new stuff sounds good, sometimes it sucks.
and remember, everything you say is dumb. evreything you say is dumb, over the top, and you never have a point.
You don't make drastic changes. That is my point.
Oh, and what you're saying is not over the top right... If you talked to someone in the world like that, they'd probably pop you in the mouth...
alex def has a good point. they're "artists" bands are always striving to change their direction....some make drastic ones, some make subtle ones. most of the 80's bands would need to make some BIG changes to keep up w/everyones tastes at the moment.
They would make changes, but you'd still recognize them.
You have a point, but so does Alex.
He's looking at it from the perspective of an artist who creates art (or music) motivated by creativity and love for the art, or out of personal expression.
You're looking at it from the perspective of a business person out to make a living.
I hope you can see the difference in these two perspectives. Because they are very different ways of looking at things, and they don't always go together.
You make a point that Duran Duran needs to keep their identity. Well, says who? You? Why do they need to keep their identity? To retain fans, to sell records, you might say. Then you're looking at it from a money point of view. And maybe they're not. Maybe they're looking at it from their own point of view; a point of view you disagree with.
It is completely their prerogative if their next album is Slovenian Polka. It wouldn't sell, of course, but it's their choice. Maybe they realize they love that kind of music and feel they have something to add to the genre. Their own unique sound. So be it.
No one says that people have to like the product when it comes to the arts. In fact, many artists intentionally create things they know people will hate.
Your way of thinking on this actually gave me a bit of insight into how you viewed Indie music a few months back. Not sure if your opinion has changed recently. But, you have to realize that not all musicians are in it for the money or fame. Cookie cutter bands you hear on mainstream radio are usually in it for the money and the fame. Many independent artists are in it for the love of music. And when you hear people say that a band "sold out", maybe now you can understand what they mean. Sometimes when a band sticks to a particular sound to keep their fans happy, and stops experimenting, they've lost that original motivation of why they got into making music in the first place.
Look at some of the music theremin posted about recently. It will never be mainstream. Yet they have fans that appreciate their art. They've found their niche. They don't have to appeal to the mass market, and they're obviously not trying to. The one band theremin was talking about also seemed to have many different varieties of their music. Some of what he posted, he didn't even like as much as some of their other stuff.
When it comes to music, there's almost always someone out there who will appreciate and understand what a band is producing, even if it's different from their old stuff. People grow up, change, mature, have different experiences. And it should, in my opinion, be reflected in their music.
After all, music is created by people, and should be an expression of their soul.
Music is an art, but if you go from Pop Rock to Dance music...uhhhh...that's a bit insane.
You guys over-hype indie music.
where's the hype?
I keep hearing how great so and so is, then when I hear it I'm like BLAH!!!
I think you are wrong on the point that a band should not care about pleasing the fans. They make their money off of John Q. Public. They should always have in their mind that they need to be loyal to the fans AND be creative. Without their fans they are nothing. I'd call bands who totally ignore their fans as sell outs. Lets take Rush for example. They have different sounds from each era. But... You always know it is Rush, because there's always a familiar element. We're not talking about artists who paint portraits here. These are people in the entertainment industry. You alienate your fans, and you are a sell out.
Look at the world in disbelief
You used to follow - now you lead
College has enlightened you
And you are proud to be different
And like different bands - different types
You ain't nobody's fool
It's like certain bands remind you of someone you hated
'Cause they didn't wear the right clothing
And there's only one true fashion
And alot of the bands on the college charts are great bands
Until they get signed. Then you hate them
It's such bull*** - you used to love them you hypocrite
Know it all, know it all - did you really listen to that song?
Could you ever write what you call wrong?
I remember you and I listening to bands that we liked
Only the songs mattered to you
But now you're a D.J. and preaching that hype
"Corporate Rock Sucks"
"You know, college radio enlightens you"
It's supposed to serve as a means to expose new bands
Without prejudice, but it makes no sense
Safe harbor for the underground
'Til the alternative becomes the popular sound
The bands are good 'til they make enough cash
To eat food and get a pad
Then they're sold out and their music is cliché
Because talent's exclusive to bands without pay
Know it all, know it all - Did you really listen to that song?
Could you ever write what you call wrong?
Know it all
-lagwagon
fans are the ones that need to support bands they like. a band should have appreciation for it's fans, but they feel like taking their music in a different direction, fans need to respect that. if they don't like it, they don't have to listen to it. but don't be gay about it.
That was so well put, it makes me wanna make some Slovenian Polka now! Meanwhile, if I may make the plug since our band seems to be back from what I thought was gonna be permanent hiatus & somewhat works into this conversation about not caring what music the public wants you to play (not that we have fans in the first place)... listen to us via http://www.myspace.com/sleepingtreesmusic
"It doesn't matter if I like it. If making music is all simply about being pleased with your own work, then don't sell it."
it only matters if you like it. if other people like it as well it just means you've managed to create something that appeals to a lot of people, and sometimes it means that what you've created is actually good.
Quentin Tarantino lives by this philosophy. he is his own audience. the reason he is successful is because everybody likes his movies, and because they are awesome. if he didn't like them then he wouldn't make them.
making cologne and making music are too different to compare.
Yeah and if the public didn't like them, he'd make less of them because he'd have no funds to make them.
Sorry, but good bands care about their fans. They have balance in what they do. They're creative and loyal to their fans. Sure once in awhile they'll make a subpar album, but that's usually due to a lack of a good groove.
"good groove?" god you're dumb.
that whole comment was just to dumb for words.
do-do-do-do, feelin' groovy
Sorry, I was born in the 70's, not 1989 or 1990 like you. They used terms like that in my childhood.
yeah, well it was a dumb word then, and it's a dumb word now.
here's how i see it, putting out a album that "lacks good groove" as you so idiotically put it is just as likely to not appeal to a fan base as putting out an album that has a different sound to it than the rest of your albums.
I hate you....
You are like a bothersome household bug that needs to be stepped on.
your just angry because nothing you say makes any sense.
Not sure what I said that is ridiculous. I could say lima beans suck and you would have the same rebuttal. I think you just enjoy being a punk.
you're a rebuttal.
You're mom.
you're mom = you are mom.
you just called me your mom. sicko.
Yeah no kidding... I realized that after I posted it. Are you running out of things to nitpick that you have to look at grammar now?
don't worry. i'll never run out of things to make fun of you for.
Lucky me.

The Occasion
I think it's been like a year since I bought a CD.
Joanna Newsom - Emily
Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds
I've been reading a lot about Joanna Newsom. Worth checking out?
Definately. I just heard her for the first time Sunday in the small hours of night on a drive from Northeast PA back to NJ on 103.3 ..She's captivating! Didn't know what I just heard so I checked the WPRB website to see what it was, and this is what it turned out to be, the song Emily by Joanna Newsom. Thankfully, eMusic.com had the album "Ys" that it's on, so I actually downloaded the full 5 song album. I have 2 more yet to listen to, but the 3 I've heard, definately good listening.
she plays the harp, right?
Apparently so. http://www.dragcity.com/bands/newsom.html
Oops, that Joanna album is "Ys" not Emily. Emily's a song on the album
Wow I got her off of e-music last year, she is very talented but also a very selected taste.
I bought Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There? / The Wall Live 1980-81 2 Cd set
I love that album. My stepmother threw away my copy on vinyl and I still don't think I've gotten over it.
Ouch! I wanna get some vinyl. Haven't bought any since probably 2000 and all of it is for DJing - like D&B/Jungle/House. I wanna get some rare psychedelic rock vinyls. You can get some nnice stuff on vinyl.
(I think we talked about good record shops in a musings forum somewhere) I remember the place I got that album at was this little hippie music shop in New Hope, PA. I remember the album was in pretty good condition and it was only $3 or $4. I'm going to have to take a trip down there and investigate. It's a good thing the main street in that town is only like 4 blocks long!
hmm, haven't heard of this place. I shall need to check it out myself. I have a friend that lives in nearby Rushland (which is by Newtown). You should check out the Princeton Record Exchange as well (http://www.prex.com) and Vintage Vinyl in Fords (http://www.vvinyl.com/), but more so PREX, as VV seems to do mostly CDs these days, but who knows, maybe you'll strike gold. I'm sure you already know about those 2 tho.
I'd never heard of PREX, so that's a good tip and it's not that far for me to drive. I haven't been to vintage vinyl in such a long time, though, because it's so far from me. If I find the name of that place in New Hope, I'll post it. Thanks!
i just got the new killers cd...its really good. i like it a lot
Would you categorize them with Bright Eyes? (or vice versa)
I wouldn't; not at all. The Killers are pop-rock.
How would you classify bright eyes?
killers are not like bright eyes...
i'd say the killers are what ian said, pop rock, but if you wanna get technical, say pop-indie. they have that kinda indie rock sound, but with pop appeal.
hey, you may want to Find ouT for youPrself...
(that one was a little less smooth)
I asked because I've never heard bright eyes, I don't like the Killers, and I wondered if they were similar. But I don't like that poppy sound, so if bright eyes are in that genre, I'm not going to waste my money downloading.
ill upload some when i got a few minutes...
I'm not on the ftp. (I'd like to be, though, Ian... hint... hint....)
i like their first one a lot better
What am i planning on purchasing??
Nov 7-Jack's Mannequin-Everything in Transit Rerelease-cd+live DVD
Nov 14- +44 (mark hoppus and travis barker from blink's new band)
Nov 21- Brand New!!
i got the brand new sampler ... 4 track .good stuff.
+44 - if they are anything like "angels to airwaves", save your $$
Jack's Mannequin - what's new/different about this album?
i enjoyed some angels and airwaves, but it was merely "pretty good."
i dont think +44 is gonna be like that though. from what ive heard of them, expect something like blink 182's last album, the self titled.
oh sorry forgot about jacks. the jacks mannequin is gonna include a live dvd. it's like $25 most places but i think best buy has it for $17, which i think would be worth it. plus, if you dont have the cd, you get the cd and a live dvd for not much more than one or the other would have cost.
so far out of these i only got brand new's. its good, but i dont think it tops deja entendu. its deep, subject matter wise, but lyrically not as good, and harder to understand a lot of the lyrics.
I just got
Badly Drawn Boy - Born in the U.K.
Grizzly Bear - Horn of Plenty
Early Day Miners - Placer Found
Wheat - Medeiros
De Rosa - Camera
Drowsy - Snow on Moss on Stone
The last 4 I got.. today
..
Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower
Blind Mr. Jones - Tatooine
Mekons - Fear & Whiskey
The Books - Though for Food
Last three I bought were:
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins
Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake It's Morning
I'll be buying:
July 11th
Muse - Black Holes & Revelations
July 25th
Mew - and the Glass Handed Kites
I love that Bright Eyes album. Awesome stuff. Top to bottom.
Of Montreal .. is that a new album? I'm out of the loop. Well, actually a couple of my pals are big fans of them. I don't know them too well. I have a few albums, but haven't listened to them in long while. I haven't decided if I like them or not. I'm confused as to what their real identity is. Are they straight? They're very talented musicians. & Their song structure is awesome. I'm just wondering why are some of songs and song titles so... cheerful.
I think the album actually came out last year. As far as their gender preference, I'm not sure.
I bought the album for one song, Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games.
It's decent.
of montreal...a couple friends got me into them. im no hardcore fan, but they have some cool stuff.
The new Muse album is REALLY GOOD!
It's like Muse got produced by Coheed and Cambria. Meh. I still likey though.
i can't tell which are the band's names, and which are the album titles.
...one again, bands really need to start coming up with better names.
i got 3 ted leo and the pharmacists albums. i have recently began to love them!!
Rx Bandits- And the Battle Begun
rise against-the sufferer and the witness
dashboard-dusk and summer
lucky boys confusion-how to get out alive EP
Is this a new Rise Against album?
The guy who sat next to me in one of my classes Fall Semester was best friends with one of the guys from Rise Against and used to work with AFI and Rancid and whatnot.
i just got dashboard confessional-dusk & summer...i've only listened to it once through so far, and it hasnt grabbed me. i don't know if it's going to be the kind of cd that i need to listen to a few times to start to like, or if it just sucks. haha
anyone else get it?
I got it too... I just listend to it once through also and liek you, Im waiting for one of the songs to grab me before I decide that I like it or not.
yo giac! it was good seeing ya this weekend, sorry that you caugt me when i JUST woke up! we didn't even get to chat really!
Jahanna!! It was nice seeing you too!! We have to get together sometime... I would say I'll visit you two in PA, but to be honest, that isn't one of my favorite states to visit... haha
I ran into your hubby when he was walking back toward the campsite and we chatted a bit...
Did you have a good time this weekend?
yea! we had a really good time, the beach was awesome, wasnt it??
come on, you can't hate a whole STATE, when you dislike one area, my area is better than most!
The conditions were awesome!!
True, I have never been in your area, but for the most part I dont like PA.. I give Pittsburgh an exception because I had a good time when I was out there, but besides that, the other places in PA I could do without....
Maybe, I will have to make an effort to visit you there, and maybe you can change my mind about another part of the state.. haha
i thought it was good. perhaps my favorite dashboard album all around
Just got these 3 from eMusic
The Field Mice - Skywriting + Singles (Disc 2)
Television Personalities - Don't Cry Baby ... It's Only a Movie
Grandaddy - Just Like the Fambly Cat
Beirut - Gulag Orkestar (it's gypsyrific! this guy is only 19 years old and plays all these fun instruments. jeremy barnes from neutral milk hotel helps out on some tracks as well.)
Aimee Mann - Bachelor No. 2 (i only have a few tracks of hers off the magnolia soundtrack and realized ive got to start collecting her stuff. when i saw this one in the used racks, i had to get it!)
Keane - Under the Iron Sea (i liked their first album instantly, but i'm not really feeling this new yet.)
Aimee Mann is so awesome to me. First got hooked from Magnolia. Lost in Space is my favorite album from her. Good songs? Humpty Dumpty, Enough, and It's Not.
Last 3:
RHCP: Stadium Arcadium
Audioslave: Out of Exile
Pearl Jam: Pearl Jam
I wanna hear & most likely get the Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam albums. I don't care for Audioslave, e'en tho I liked Soundgarden.
i'd like to hear the new audioslave and pj too. i have the new rhcp, it's pretty good, pretty similar to their other stuff. they kinda get repetitive after a while, but it's nice low key background music
I don't think I'm going to get the new PJ - I saw them on SNL recently, and I could barely understand what Eddie was singing. I really liked them in the 10-Vs.-Vitalogy era, but they're not holding my interest anymore.
Yes. Those three albums held me. What came afterward didn't do it for me.
me either, but i still wanna hear the new one
I have it. It's a blast from the the Pearl Jam Trilogy Era. I dig it. Give it a shot.
my last 3:
the format-dog problems
less than jake-in with the out crowd
rookie of the year-the goodnight moon
I'd like to hear this LTJ album.
just ordered
i am kinda over LTJ would you like my albums?
everyone buy THE FORMAT-DOG PROBLEMS
the album comes out in july but theyre selling it on mp3 now. they paid for everything themselves, they recorded it themselves and are distributing it themselves. so this one, make sure you go out and buy. i'm not putting this one up on the ftp.
why don't you get one up there, so we can at least see if they are worth getting into
The Format is good stuff! I saw them open for Rx Bandits once, very good. Sammy might have some of their stuff on the computer at home, I'll have to check with her.
Also, if you like The Format you may then like The Exit.
there's already a Format album on there. /mp3
interventions and lullabies is up. dog problems is different, in that they use a whole orchestral arrangement. its cool. todd, sorry i dont have the mp3s yet so i couldnt post a sample even if i wanted to. i listened to the album stream, but didnt download it yet. i dont think the stream is still up. im waiting to buy the hard copy july 11th. when i pay for music, i like to have the actual cd.
i heard it very aptly described as the modern day "pet sounds." its lighthearted sounds and wonderful harmonies bring me back to the days of the beach boys. it really is phenomenal.
oh, i also broke down and bought the mp3s. maybe ill put up a sample song so you can get an idea.
don't compare this stuff to "pet sounds." thats just crazy.
I got these four from emusic. (which by the way, means I paid for them.. it's 10 dollars a month, in case I'm challenged for this post)
Seekonk - For Barbara Lee
FFA Coffi Pawb - Am Byth
The Minders - The Future's Always Perfect
The Features - The Beginning
I CHALLENGE THIS POST ANYWAY! HAVE AT YOU!
lol
HI-YAH!
I just downloaded a ton of stuff:
Anberlin - Never take friendship personal
Blind Faith - Deluxe remastered edition
Infectious Grooves - Mas Borracho
Led Zeppelin - tons of misc tracks
Pedro the Lion - Tour
RHCP - Stadium Arcadium
Saves the day - In Reverie
Taking back sunday - Louder Now
The new amsterdams - worse for the wear
Thursday - Full collapse & War all the Time
Blind Faith and Led Zep are great throw back records to listen to while laying outside with a long island ice tea. Pedro the Lion sucked! I heard good stuff about them, but the lead singer's voice is far too monotone, it's difficult to listen to. This is an album of covers, so maybe it's different on one of their studio albums. RHCP's album is really good, as is most of their stuff.
I'm really digging the new taking back sunday. I was afraid that it would follow the line of their last album, which was worse than the first, but they pretty much rock. The lyrics definitely aren't as poetic as the first album (but whose are, really?), but they still have really good guitar work and that incredible melody that they pull off like few others. I highly recommend it.
I buy a lot of music, I don't pirate it anymore. I just buy everything from iTunes. Last 3 I got were:
The Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia
The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls
Calexico & Iron & Wine - In the Reins - EP
I have this thing were I'll really like one or two songs so I'll buy what ever I can find. I got the first DD album because of hearing Coin Operated Boy which I love. Then I heard their new song called Sing and just fell in love with it. And I got into Iron & Wine after buying the In Good Company Soundtrack because I really wanted to have the Peter Gabriel song, Salsbury Hill. I can't buy 1 song for .99 cents when you can get 12 for $9.99.
Others I recently bought were more Iron & Wine, Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits, Guns and Roses Greatest Hits, Elton John Box, and Glenn Miller (it was $6 at Best Buy).
oh! i am loving iron and wine lately. can't wait to see the dolls next month. :) also, their dvd is great.
Yeah, I fell in love with The Trapeze Swinger and I had to go out and buy every Iron & Wine album I could find.
i had only downloaded them and itunes got corrupted. :( now i only have the creek drank the cradle. so much music, so little time.
Did you try checking for downloaded music to see if it would redownload it?
i had someone scour the comp for me and it wasn't there. i just started from scratch. i own most of the albums in my itunes so i didn't loose a crazy amount of stuff.
Its still frustrating though. I finally had to go out and get an external hard drive to back up my library. My laptop almost had to get wiped and I would have been so upset if I was going to lose it all. I have about 50 gigs of music.
You should buy through eMusic instead. 40 songs for $10 a month. They have an awesome selection too. But, let me know if your interested, so I can give the referral and get 50 free downloads myself.
What format do they come in?
I just hate tieing myself to a commitment like that. What if I don't want to buy any songs this month? Then I'm screwed out of the $10.
They come in mp3 format, listenable within any mp3 player, on an unlimited amount of computers, iPods or other like device, and bur n on as many CDs as you'd like to. If you're someone that buys one CD a month or more like I used to, emusic is a good alternative, 'cause you might otherwise easily spend more than 10 dollars on one CD... unless it's like BMG or something... but that BMG thing is commitment thing too. I signed up a few years ago for eMusic when they had unlimited downloads actually. Then, they were bought out, and the new company put the limit at 40 d/l's. I kept it tho, since now, they have tons more in their library... and 40 for 10 is still an ok deal. I used to pay 13 dollars a month for Sirius radio.
Yeah, and that's another thing, I just bought Sirius, and I'm loving it. Left of Center is like the greatest station. Though I can see now that I'm finding new bands with it and I'm totally willing to go get the CD now.
I might check it out. But I don't want to have any more monthly payments on anything.
Oh yeh, having both Sirius and eMusic would b e a prob, that'd be 23 bucks a month on top of your other bills if Sirius is still 13/month. I only got eMusic after canceling Sirius. I do miss having Sirius tho. You just gave me a flashback, when you said "Left of Center." I remember that station. Loved it. Still have the equipment all connected in my car, so if I ever am able to afford it again, I just make the phone call to start service back up. eMusic is a better deal than iTunes tho. 99 cents a song or 10 dollars an album is not much of a deal.
Compared to buying a CD in a store, its a bargain. CD's today are about $16 on sale and like $24 brand new.
Yeh, I mean.. 10 dollars for an album is good.. but isn't as attractive against the cost of eMusic. But, I guess if you don't spend 10 dollars on music every month now, then don't get it. However, if you are getting like 3 albums a month.. eMusic would be better, since it'd be like 10 bucks vs. 30 bucks. By the way, I saw your brother maybe about a month ago.
yeah, i just bought the two Dresden Dolls off Itunes. I had some of the songs downloaded already (Limewire) but I wanted to actually buy them and support the band. Amanda's lyrics blow my mind. Her voice is sometimes atrocious but it's unique and I love it.
Girl Anachronism, Bad Habit, My Alcoholic Friends, Sing, Coin Operated Boy... some of my favorite songs right now
I just got The Fray's album.....GOOD STUUUFFFF!!! It's got a Coldplay vibe to it, but different.....hard to explain.
Just got The Melody Unit - Choose your Own Adventure, The Lassie Foundation - Pacifico, Songs : Ohia - Impala, & an old Flaming Lips - Oh My Gawd...The Flaming Lips
Paulina Rubio Pau-Latina
Thalia (self titled)
Depeche Mode Playing the Angel

damian marley- welcome to jamrock
i think its fabulous. he even duets with bobby brown and i like it. dude, bobby brown? how could that be good you may think, but it is. all the songs get stuck in my head. and in the linear notes, all the words are written with the jamacian flavor with wrongly spelled words and accents. i love it!
and i also just got sergio mendes. he's a brazilian artists but not a singer. i figure he's like carlos santana. so many wonderful people duet on this: erykah badu, jill scott, stevie wonder, q-tip, and the black eyed peas. and of course, where there's sumtin hip going down, justin timberlake is there. so yes. he is here too. just great sunny day driving music or dancing it up tunes. check it out.
LOVE sergio mendes. he's really fun to wake up to/clean to.
i like q-tip
