I read this really interesting article about a punk band from chicago, talking about how the warped tour single-handedly killed punk music, or at least all it stood for
the warped tour is awful. bands can't deny it because it generates sales. i'll admit i went seven years, consecutive. 97-2003. it just got way too crowded and way too corporate. and the kids. more and more evil and inconsiderate every year. i'm too old for that scene.
agreed, i enjoyed it because you get to see a lot of bands, and you get to discover a lot of bands on the smaller stages. Now it is a total corporate event, sponsors everywhere.
The argument in the article i read, said because all the bands tour on this one tour, there is not a smaller show every night throughout the summer. less local shows = less opportunities for local bands to get exposer and grow.
