Hmmm....Would Jesus find himself in a mosh pit....Meditate on this I will...
mosh pits of the shows i go to arent like what you are thinking of... the people in there bounce around and bump into each other, and nobody is really trying to hurt anyone...
now a hardcore show... different story.
Still retarded....
so are you, but we still talk to you...
i win.
Yeah well redheads rule!!
you said it, brotherman
i dont agree, i would have before i had been to a hardcore show, but we went to Rolling Rock State Fair a couple years back, and the crowd was actually more "calm" and less pushy than at punk shows. i've never gotten hurt at a show, people get hurt cuz they're crowd surfing..(usually) or are too small or can't defend themselves...those people should be on the sidelines.
Dude, do you honestly think this type of music is wholesome? If you do you need to think real hard. Even heavy metal is crap. If anyone in here would defend Marilyn Manson or Megadeath, then there are serious issues going on. If you have doubts that you'd be hearing that music in the new system, then it's probably a good idea to stay away from it. Real music is music from the heart, not someone screaming lyrics and playing instruments without fluid tones. I've heard enough of Punk to realize it's not what Christians should be listening to. If others feel otherwise whatever. This is just like the whole Halo contriversy. If you can't see that blood spattering games are not wholesome then I guess you can't see this one either.
Ok....bring it on suckas....
all good points... minus the whole imposing your concience on everyone else. Has there been a watchtower article on punk music? Negative. As a whole, is punk music ALL bad? No. You can nitpick any genre of music and find bad in it.
And... in your huuuumble opinion... what SHOULD christians be listening to?
I think people need to understand that music is a VERY personal thing... you cant go imposing your opinion on anyone else. If you dont like it, GOOD... but shutup, no one cares what you think.
And what is this about imagining what music will be in the new system? How do you or ANYONE for that matter, know what music will be in the new system. i DO recall WT articles discussing trying to guess about how things would be in the future.
Again, good attempt... but... i award you NO points... and please crawl back into the hole you came from.
It's on now.....
I talked about Punk with a mature older brother yesterday and he thought even worse of it than I do. His step-daughter listens to it and she has a dark personality. I'm sure some of that comes from the music she listens to. He had the opportunity I guess, to hear some of the lyrics. There are even some mainstream rock bands I wouldn't listen to because the lyrics are horrible, even though the sound of the actual music is cool. And the Society doesn't need to make an article on one particular genre of music. It should be obvious to all true Christians what music is not suitable. But my argument is Punk just sucks. So :oP
Now for giggles someone can let me know what they consider to be a wholesome or at least nonvulgar or non negative lyric Punk band and I will listen to their music. Otherwise, I win.... Ok, I'm crawling back to my hole your Royal Haloness.... Wasn't trying to say my opinion is the only correct one, but I think it should make others think about music and concerts they decide to go to.
lol...
oooh, so you just dont like the music... lol well why didnt you just SAY that?
90% of the music i post is that... i will give you a list of music that you may be able to handle...
until then... yeah, you dont win.
Sorry, you will never win when it comes to my music.
Well I don't know, alot of people are saying your selection of music is worse than even John Hughes. LOL!
*Group Hug* My only comment is that most music is created by satan's system and we have to use discernment when listening. Because a band is loud, doesn't mean it's bad. I think of the 70's song "afternoon delight" which is sounds pretty and melodious but every statement is about sex. We're all imperfect and sometimes become imbalaced so we have to try harder to train our conscience. However, unless we're put in an uncomfortable situation, we should not impose our personal preferences on others :)
I concur.
i really hope that you don't reason with people like this in the ministry, because i'm pretty sure insulting & bashing someones thoughts or opinions is NOT the way to get through to them. "it's not what christians should be listening to" ???????? i don't think you have made an ounce of difference on your side of the argument.
lastly, how do you feel about punk bands that cover old tunes: ie: brown eyed girl, 99 red baloons, just like heaven. do these songs become "unchristian" because they are sung faster & with a heavier edge??
one of my biggest pet peeves is when you discuss a conscience matter with someone and they state their side of the issue as fact. it's so gratifying to then look something up in the WT library and see that it is in fact a conscience matter. ie: christian brothers & sisters having an operation to become sterile. (thought i'd try to round up a new controversy.) haha
i guess this is one of those things that the saying "JW's never discuss 2 things, movies they watch, and how they count their time" applies. i think we should add..."and what music we listen to".
You may be onto something.
I think the goal was to get a rise out of some people. I succeeded.
(evil laugh in the background)
No, I don't insult people in the ministry. If you're insulted then you are just being silly anyway. You can rip right back at me. It doesn't bother me. Don't hold back, Mike doesn't, that's why he's somewhat cool. Whoops...did I say that out loud?
You shouldn't be proud of getting a rise out of people who are defending their spirituality. I mean, Mike and I were joking around, but you brought in service to Jehovah, and that's not cool.
Obviously you are a huge fan of this music which is why you are getting perturbed.
What are you, 12 years old?
No, but you're the one getting mad, not me. Most of these posts I said this was my opinion. Maybe the one you are referring to I should have stated the same.
