oh come on guys... everybody has their opinions and yes, most of the time the music they play at my gym makes me want to kill myself but this is the stupidest argument
I'm frightened that the majority here like Punk music. Even the ones in their mid to late 20's. Take a look at how the worldly people who like these bands look and then tell me nothing is wrong w...
Yeah but if I went to a U2 show for example, I'd be much safer from harm than going to a Punk show.
How many punk shows have you been to?
Mosh pits explain it all. I went to one or two with some people. The music was horrible, if that is what you call it.
Well, again, that's your opinion.
I don't consider screaming lyrics and just banging away at the instruments as music.
Neither do I. You're generalizing too much. It's like talking to my grandfather.
i agree with web-toed, you're generalizing way too much, i don't know who you went to see, but they probably weren't very good, or maybe you just weren't listening. the musicians in thrice or strung out can play their instruments way better than buddy holly or johnny cash ever could have hoped to. (ps. i'm not discrediting the importance of the influence buddy holly or johnny cash had on music, just trying to make a point)
I've only listened to a few of these so-called "Punk" bands in my lifetime. I couldn't even tell you their names, that's how little I cared. But....I felt like I was with a bunch of Satan worshippers. I watched some guys bodyslamming each other or moshing, whatever you call it, and I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. The way some of the people dressed was outrageous, etc... I did not feel it was a good environment to be around and I certainly would never let my 2 kids ever go to something like that. So maybe I have an older persons perspective since I have children, but saying Punk is a good genre of music is the same as saying some gangster rap is good. It's my opinion, but I feel it's a good one to stick by. So I'll stick with it.
I think we should just stop talking about this; we don't debate with people in the ministry, we shouldn't debate like this among ourselves. Just do what your conscience allows and don't worry about everyone else.
I think this is fun. Thanks Alex for the contriversial thread...hahahaha....
You are right though. Lets all kiss and make up. :o)
so who knows what you were even listening to? according to what you are saying it may or may not have even been punk. you obviously don't know anything about the genre so I just can't take anything else you are saying seriously. i can understand somebody saying "i don't like the music but to each his own" but come on, to pull the "that music is the work of the devil and is evil" card is just retarded, especially because you don't even know the names of the 2 so called "punk" bands you listened to once.
I merely said that's how I felt when in that environment. If you wouldn't feel that way then fine. It was Punk music. I know the sound. I won't pretend I'm an expert on this genre of music, because I'm not. I personally feel it's not a good form of music. Knock yourself out if you like it. Let's not pretend though that I'm the only one in the organization with this viewpoint. I know plenty of others with the same one, I'm just being blunt about it. In the end it's something that is between yourself and Jehovah...Ok so how about them Mets...LOL!
yeah i get it, i'm just saying there's a million different bands of course a lot of them are gonna be bad. I like rock too just like you do but I don't say
"all rock is bad because KISS or Kid Rock or Marilyn Manson are bad and I don't want to be associated with that"
hey kids will start a mosh pit no matter what kind of music it is....LOL
not really....cause i can go to a social d show or bad religion show and feel jsut as comfortable as i do when i go to a U2 show.
Good point. Mike Ness always tells people at his Social D shows to be a family, and they really are. People always bring their kids. It's all about the band you go to see.
