I'm starting the Master Cleanse today and doing it through until the 8th. This should be interesting.
What does that involve?
so far i've had 32 oz of warm salt water to start. for the rest of the time, i'll have this mixture: 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice (about a half lemon or lime), 2 tbsp pur grade B maple syrup, 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (red) or to taste, and 12 oz of purified water (very warm). and that's it! you can double the recipe and drink it all day long, but that's all. i'm doing it for 12 days, but supposedly you can do it for up to 40 (i think that's just crazy). 10-14 days is doable for me.
Oh, I have done that, all I can say is OM. You will be amazed, and horrified. But I don't want to give away the ending.
how long did you do it for?
two weeks IIRC, was a couple years ago
Important thing is to ween yourself back onto solids, cuz your system will NOT be ready for complex stuff
what worked for you coming back onto solid food?

Really? I've heard about these cleansing things before, but was never really sure what to make of them. They seem like they could work, but it also seems like you could lose a lot of muscle mass in the process. Especially if you're exercising at the same time. Have you done this before? Are there any guidelines as to what types of activity your supposed to do, and/or stay away from?
that was a risk i anticipated because i don't have a lot of muscle mass. there are whole books on what to do/not to do during the cleanse. personally, i'm going to cut back on excercise because i figure i might be running low on energy.
is it just a pure cleanse and no food?

i wanted to do this, but i can't go more than a few hours without food
i have been eating low-calorie the past week and drinking TONS of water and i feel weak and dizzy by dinnertime, heh
plus i definitely do not want to lose muscle mass
however I added the cayenne pepper/lemon water mixture just as a drink between meals because it does make you feel full
last night i went home and totally crashed. i'm not sure i should be doing this in the summer since our apartment is pretty hot. jewy and i have been doing it together, but she has recital this week so it also might not be a good idea for her. i think i'm going to stop and start again closer to the wedding. it just doesn't seem smart to keep going right now.
It does get easier... first couple of days are hard, no matter when you start.

let me know how this works. i've been feeling cruddy lately and i think i need a good detox. although, i don't even know if i'd last a day w/o food. i may need to modify this
i only did it for two days this time around. i'm sure i could go longer, but i decided against it. it did work in just those two days though.

tummy yes. general energy yes. less soreness/tightness of muscles all over.

during the day no but at night i totally crashed.
