yeah i get that a lot from a friend of mine. But i think that in the end it kinda works itself out, it just prevents you from actually seeing what could have happened.
Sometimes it prevents you from the other person getting to know you. Because when you like someone you are nervous around them and it takes a few times out to get comfortable. However this other person has no discomfort as their true intentions are not for the person, simply to stop you or anyone else. As i said it can ruin a chance, since sometimes girls will go more for this type of attention than sincerity. And that is who this kind of behaviour truly affects, those with honorable intentions.
What i mean when i say it can work itself out is; Do you really want someone who will not at least take you for what you can be? In other words lets say it happens to you as a guy or a girl. If this person doesn't at least view you as a potential friend and ignores you, you are better off. I think anyway...
