I'm listening to this now - it's ok. Again, very similar to the last album, which I liked. I love Chris' passion when he sings and his arrangements will always be innovative and different. In that way, his albums are ecclectic. However, I think lyrically, this album is not as good as the last one. Swiss Army Romance was his finest lyrical endeavor, in my opinion, and since then, it doesn't seem like he writes with the same fervor. But his last few albums were released with little expectation from the media, and I don't think that's the case with this one. So while it's good, it seems like it's been streamlined for mass appeal. Vagrant keeps doing that to bands.
its kind of losing its appeal, slightly. its still good, but it doesnt catch me like it did at first. most albums i really like do the opposite-i don't like them that much, then after giving them a chance, fall in love with it.
