Maybe it's just the ultimate manifestation of the fact that our culture promulgates the necessity of putting yourself above others and the need for constant attention placing you on top of some invisible pantheon...
anyone who's on the internet posting any opinion on any subject is seeking attention in some way

Yes, and it's the over the top that makes it lame. I mean, this site is nice because I can talk to people I used to be able to see a couple times a week before I moved, but when I saw them every day, I was posting less-frequently. Communication is good, the desire for attention is lame.
