yeah i wouldn't be able to do that. The only way i was okay in the maternity ward when my sister was giving birth was that i kept telling myself there's no sick people here just moms and babies
otherwise i'd be freaking out
Just sick people don't bother me too much. Now, if they were bleeding or losing limbs right in front of me, or if I were part of a surgery taking place, THEN I'd have some issues, hahaha.
I can't watch those surgery shows because I freak out looking at the cutting and stuff. Ew.
yeah i'm very strange, i love surgery shows and i would have loved to watch my sister's c-section if i was allowed in the room!! but like someone coughing on me i don't like. haha.
(and actual "natural" births i don't like either and never want to see one or .. be... one..)
You are my total opposite, hahaha. Well sort of....I'd smack someone for coughing on me, haha. The only person who's ever done that and gotten away with it is Tyler. Anyone else, yeah, it's the grossest thing. I agree.
i love surgeries!!! i watched an open heart surgery and loved it...and at work i assist in surgeries and i think it is sooo cool...
Wait, what do you do for work? I'm guessing you're in the health industry.....
yeah. i'm an vascular technician/assistant/office manager..all depends on the day..haha..
Fun fun. How did you get into that position? Did you go to any type of nursing/medical school?
yeah..i went to youngstown state university...i did it when i was in high school..i went half day at highschool and then half day at YSU...when i graduated i was a phlebotomist, medical assistant and EMT..then i got my job here and then went to Philly to be a Vascular Technician. i love this kind of stuff...
Very cool....I've always been interested in some sort of nursing/medical job, but never went for it. Where I work now, they offer tuition reinbursement. So I was thinking that I'd see how I like this job, and go from there as far as more training goes. Who knows....it might totally change my mind from doing the event planning thing to the medical field, hahaha.
oh i highly recommend something in the medical field...the good thing about it is everyone always needs medical care, so there are always jobs...and if you get bored with what your doing, you can always advance and learn more...
My biggest concern is where to start. I like the idea of becoming a nurse, but all these schools I've looked at require you to be an RN before you can take any of their classes. And then I worry about what type of nurse to be....that if I get trained in one area, and don't like it later on, it would take tons of time and work to switch. Is it easier than I think it is? I honestly am not familiar with this area, so it's all new to me.
well, there are two options for you right now if you definately want to do nursing. you can go for about 2 years and become a LPN or go 4 years and become a RN. RN is where the money is at. Once your a RN or LPN you can specialize in a certain field like vascular or neonatal etc. What you should do, is hospitals are really hurting for nurses, so alot of times they will have a RN program and its usually only 2years and they hire you. You should look into that. There's always Ultrasound Tech(which is what i do basically and LOVE it) and X-Ray Tech...those are shorter degrees that pay well.
