Rain Rain

iwz by iwz · Aug 29, 2006 · 6,151 views · ·

I hope it stops raining soon, this is getting old. It's supposed to be nice for the next few days, but then I have a feeling next week is going to be crappy with that tropical storm/hurricane on its way up here.

In other news, my brother gets married on monday!

is it tupac's bday today or is it the anniversary of his death?

malibu malibuOG 2001 ·

so this morning we're in the middle of a pretty big chemistry lecture and this girls turns around and tells me to stop breathing so loudly. now at first i thought she was kidding cuz yeah i have asthma and when it acts up i tend to breathe like darth vader. so i ask, "are you kidding?" she shoots me this evil look and says i'm distracting her from the lessson.

i almost stood up and punched her in the ovaries right there. i dont' even know this girl, we're in college not preschool, and maybe the fact that she got there 15 min late was why she didnt' understand what was going on. i feel so mad.

how does one "bunch" another one in the ovaries?

**don't hate me**

Buuuttttt, I was getting annoyed by loud breathing at the bookstudy on Monday night. I didn't have the heart to tell him to kick it down a notch. Nose whistles are the worst! I'm very easily agitated by sounds...

BUT, I prayed that Jehovah help me ignore it, and focus on the lesson, and it worked. But before that, I was getting ready to SCREAM.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

i would've kept up the breathing...LOL or shot my inhaler in her face lol

I just walked into one of our conference rooms with an older client, maybe in her late 50's, and as soon as I closed the conference room door, she asked me, "Is that the ditzy receptionist?" Ooh, but the O.C. is!!! Thanks!! Awesome link!

I actually don't know if I'm gonna watch The O.C. as much this year. Mischa's gone, which is good, but I get tired of the same plot over and over. Ryan's always having girl drama, and this season will be worse with him pining for Marissa. Am I right, G? Are you thinking the same thing?
The only saving grace of that show, as much as I love it, is Adam Brody....he's SO funny!!

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

He is so funny. And he's cute, too! He's the only reason I watch that show when I remember to.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Yeah, I think it's the humor that gets me too.....nothing more attractive than a guy that can make you laugh.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

yeah i was so over that show....i kept going back because of seth and summer. i didnt even watch the season ender...it was jsut so bad.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

I get frustrated with the same plot over and over, with the same people. Ryan is always liking a girl then fighting it. Seth and Summer are on again/off again. Sandy and Kirsten are always gonna have either her drinking or his ethical dilemmas to deal with. It goes on and on.....they need new writers.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

We're having like, 20 people over to our place tomorrow night....I'm freaking out because, while my house is really nice and put together really well for only having been in it about a month, there's still so much I want to do to it before we entertain.
I'm gonna have to get over myself and relax, and remind myself that it looks fine, no one cares if there isn't tons of wall decor to make things look complete, or that the garden isn't quite finished. Breathe......

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

question....why did you invite peeps over if you feel your place isnt up to your liking?

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

I didn't, really....long story, but Adam's cousin had two of our mutual friends fly in to visit her for the week from Ohio. She wanted to have a get-together for a bunch of people from the hall to meet them, but her parents leave for Hawaii at 5am Thursday morning and didn't want a bunch of people over the night before, and Wednesday night was the only night she could have people get together, since the other nights are meeting nights, and the friends leave Friday morning. She asked if she could use my place. It's actually ok, and I've had people over already....I just have this thing where, I know how I eventually want my home to look, but it takes time and a bit of money. I have to keep reminding myself that no one gets their home together all at once. It's part of my OCD/Anal retentiveness/Control freak issues, hahaha......I get freaked out over non-issues.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

OH ok, i get it!! well i'm sure no one will notice but i understand, to you it will stick out like a sore thumb! LOL

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Yeah....it's really minor things, like, I wanted to do a bit of gardening, and I wanted a frame for this huge oil painting we have, so I could use some of our wall space. Other than that, like I said before, for being in this house about a month or so, it looks great. I'm just an idiot, hahaha.

Does that count civilians? I heard tens of thousands died in Iraq alone.

Hey Ian, I just found out my parents are staying at the Residence Inn in Stanhope tonight.

iwz iwz ·

Oh, wow! Why in Stanhope??

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 ·

My dad has to meet with a customer somewhere in NJ. My mom went with him since they were already out in MA. I had to get back to work, unfortunately, so I flew back without them.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

If you were invited to a bridal shower for a friend, but the shower was across the country, and you couldn't afford to fly back, and RSVP'd no, are you still expected to send a gift?

iwz iwz ·

are you attending the wedding? then i'd send a shower gift like you would have given her if you went to the shower.

if you aren't attending the wedding, i'd actually still send a gift.

so, either way, i'd send a gift.. haha

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Nice try Ian....it's not for you, hahaha.
Ok, but seriously...thanks. :)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

is it a close friend that you were going to attend the wedding, i'd send a gift. if it's an aquaintance, def send a "congratualtory" card and all should be coolio.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

It's someone who I used to think we were very close friends, but unfortunately over the years the relationship has shifted a bit. I can't go to the wedding, because it's Thanksgiving weekend, and tickets are outrageous. She's known I probably wouldn't go for a while though.
I was just wondering, because someone I spoke to about it seemed shocked that I didn't send something yet.

So I had to go in for a physical today, before I can start at my job in 2 weeks. Pretty routine stuff....except for the 3 vials of blood they drew, and the TB skin test I got. And I have to get a chicken pox vaccine, since I never got the disease as a kid.

It's pretty scary to read over a paper that lists what types of things you'll be doing a certain percentage of the time, then lists the types of diseases you'll be in contact with on a regular basis.....and Hepatitis and HIV being just a few of them. Good times, this job of mine.

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 ·

sounds like a job with a pimp

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Hahaha......ew, no.

I'm a patient service representative for The Mayo Clinic, and so I'll be around a lot of sick people. The Mayo Clinic gets patients with all sorts of illnesses and diseases, and I'll be one of the ones who gets to check them in, take their vitals, etc. Fun stuff. No pimps, haha.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 ·

Hey, pimps need rehab too...

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Hahaha....not THAT kind of clinic. THis ones treats people with cancer, HIV, skin diseases, TB, hepatitis.....a lot of terminal things, but a lot of treatable things too. No drug rehab, hahaha.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah i wouldn't be able to do that. The only way i was okay in the maternity ward when my sister was giving birth was that i kept telling myself there's no sick people here just moms and babies

otherwise i'd be freaking out

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Just sick people don't bother me too much. Now, if they were bleeding or losing limbs right in front of me, or if I were part of a surgery taking place, THEN I'd have some issues, hahaha.
I can't watch those surgery shows because I freak out looking at the cutting and stuff. Ew.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah i'm very strange, i love surgery shows and i would have loved to watch my sister's c-section if i was allowed in the room!! but like someone coughing on me i don't like. haha.

(and actual "natural" births i don't like either and never want to see one or .. be... one..)

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

You are my total opposite, hahaha. Well sort of....I'd smack someone for coughing on me, haha. The only person who's ever done that and gotten away with it is Tyler. Anyone else, yeah, it's the grossest thing. I agree.

mandie mandieOG 2001 ·

i love surgeries!!! i watched an open heart surgery and loved it...and at work i assist in surgeries and i think it is sooo cool...

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Wait, what do you do for work? I'm guessing you're in the health industry.....

mandie mandieOG 2001 ·

yeah. i'm an vascular technician/assistant/office manager..all depends on the day..haha..

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Fun fun. How did you get into that position? Did you go to any type of nursing/medical school?

mandie mandieOG 2001 ·

yeah..i went to youngstown state university...i did it when i was in high school..i went half day at highschool and then half day at YSU...when i graduated i was a phlebotomist, medical assistant and EMT..then i got my job here and then went to Philly to be a Vascular Technician. i love this kind of stuff...

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Very cool....I've always been interested in some sort of nursing/medical job, but never went for it. Where I work now, they offer tuition reinbursement. So I was thinking that I'd see how I like this job, and go from there as far as more training goes. Who knows....it might totally change my mind from doing the event planning thing to the medical field, hahaha.

mandie mandieOG 2001 · specialk

oh i highly recommend something in the medical field...the good thing about it is everyone always needs medical care, so there are always jobs...and if you get bored with what your doing, you can always advance and learn more...

specialk specialkOG 2003 · mandie

My biggest concern is where to start. I like the idea of becoming a nurse, but all these schools I've looked at require you to be an RN before you can take any of their classes. And then I worry about what type of nurse to be....that if I get trained in one area, and don't like it later on, it would take tons of time and work to switch. Is it easier than I think it is? I honestly am not familiar with this area, so it's all new to me.

mandie mandieOG 2001 · specialk

well, there are two options for you right now if you definately want to do nursing. you can go for about 2 years and become a LPN or go 4 years and become a RN. RN is where the money is at. Once your a RN or LPN you can specialize in a certain field like vascular or neonatal etc. What you should do, is hospitals are really hurting for nurses, so alot of times they will have a RN program and its usually only 2years and they hire you. You should look into that. There's always Ultrasound Tech(which is what i do basically and LOVE it) and X-Ray Tech...those are shorter degrees that pay well.

specialk specialkOG 2003 · mandie

OOooh...that also sounds very cool. Thanks! :)

specialk specialkOG 2003 · mandie

Forensic Nursing....now THAT sounds fun!!

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

o! this bakery just opened up in my town recently, it's soooooo awesome... makes me feel a little bit like i'm NOT in nowhere, south jersey, because it's so awesome

and they have this tea that i tried there the other day, it was called something like "nutty fruity amarretto" BEST THING EVER and the coolest thing was you get a little pouch full of dried fruit and nuts and um.. amaretto?.. and you let it seap for a few minutes and the water only changes color slightly, but it is INFUSED with flavor!

they are starting to do like a live music thing there friday nights, basically a person playing guitar and singing... sooooo cool i love it

Amaretto (Italian for "a little bitter") is a type of alcoholic beverage originating from Italy, namely a liqueur flavored with almonds, or the almond-like kernels from apricots, peaches, cherries etc.

I am a caffeine addict. I have 2-3 cups of coffee a day, and I also usually have a steady supply of Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar, etc. I am currenlty trying to only have one cup a day, I've been doing this for almost a week now, and i'm getting terrible withdrawal headaches and a general feeling of being in a thick fog, and it's really annoying

so yeah i'm not so chatty because i'm moving in slow motion and my head is pounding

*and painkillers do not help this kind of headache, btw, only caffeine does :(

only a few more days and i should be over it

::sigh::
