Rain Rain
I hope it stops raining soon, this is getting old. It's supposed to be nice for the next few days, but then I have a feeling next week is going to be crappy with that tropical storm/hurricane on its way up here.
In other news, my brother gets married on monday!

lol even worse is the lady with them lauging haha
K- had was Tyler at school today?
He had a good day today. The talk with his teachers was effective, because the bully wrote him an apology note today. And he was nice to Tyler too, so hopefully it means a new leaf has been turned over. Tyler seemed like he had a great day, so hopefully it continues. Thanks for asking, by the way. :)
Oh wow-an apology note? That's a big turn around. Hopefully the kid won't turn evil again.
Yeah, the spawn of Satan was nice to Tyler again today, so maybe he's turning away from the dark side....hahhaa.
I love my dogs, but they are ridiculous. They have about 3 toys left, because in the last week, they've eaten like 14 of them. And now I'v found a spot in their cage where they've broken the base they lay on. AND that's all not including the holes they chewed in our walls....in this house, and our last one.
So I found a screw embedded in my tire.....it's really stuck in there....is it possible it's affecting my tire and making air leak out, or is it ok since it's stuck in there?
While yes you may have a sealed tire it should be repaired.
It will fail with the screw in there sooner or later, either way the life span the tire will be shortened. Without getting it repaired soon.
And if it was just me... I too would get it fixed cuz I put an unbelievable strain on my tires :-) BUT cuz its Tyler's ride too, so for saftey, I say DO IT NOW, ok.
get it patched now, its like 5$ at any tire or repair type place
How long does the patch last?
The patch done correctly should not wear out? You can patch it and forget it. :-)
*Caveat being your in the Sahara out there make sure they just don't do a plug get them to patch it from the inside, it shouldn't be more that $10-15.
Cool. thx.
doing anything besides take the wheel off the tire, and patching it would be retarded and a waste of money. I get a nail screw or whatever at least once every month or so and patches hold up fine with 5K+ pound loads. Then again i got a dualie in the back so i can drive with one tire flat :P
Very cool....I've gotten a flat tire on my old Intrepid a few years back, driving home from work at 1:30am, and so I've been freaky about that ever since. Good to know this is fixable. Thanks.
Although the Intrepid's tires were wimpy....I have big fat SUV tires on my new car now, hahaha.
it happens so often and i buy so many tires because of the miles i do i get it done for free from my guy. All you need to do is find some place you spend 1000$ a year or more on tires and you will be set.
Hahaha.....no place like that here in AZ, especially since we just moved. I'll just take it to Tire Discounters down the street, haha.
Has anyone else found this?

My son addicted me to video games again. I've gone awhile without playing them, like months. I played his Revenge of the Sith game for PS2 and couldn't put it down. I was playing for hours last night after the kids went to bed. Unfortunately it went past 12am, not good. It's amazing where video games have come from. When I was 6 or 7, Atari was at it's height and Nintendo came along. I was content playing Pacman or Donkey Kong. Super Mario Bros then became the best thing since sliced bread. The details and intracies of games today are mind boggling. I got a kick out of force holding an opponent and then frying him with sith lightning...(evil laugh)....
Iaaaaannnn's my hero...watch him as he goes....
my hair is pretty long and wild right now.
SO... tonight ... I was thinking about shaving it all off.
And GOING BALD.

daddy warbucks is before my time... But you can't tell that from looking at my head.
you already havve buzz...it looks HOT as is!
buzz it. it grows back!
Check this out.
This restaurant posted want ads on all the typical job search sites. I wonder if they're looking for a ton of potential chefs for this new restaurant... hmmmm.... I have been bored with my job lately... how incredible would it be if I could get a job as a chef... But then I might have to work nights and I'd miss my husband, which would suck. And it's not like I've got any kind of food experience on my resume... man I'm a coward.
The Chef position is a particularly trying position. I would talk to Sister Kovatch and see what she recommends. Seriously, it's a tough job, stressful, and can destroy your spirituality, if you're not careful. I know that's not something you don't want.
the force is strong with this one...
I know, it's hard. I think it's the kind of job that I would take in a perfect world. But it's nice to think about. :)
I think it's mostly that I'm sick of spending all day doing something I really don't enjoy. We've tossed around the idea of starting a catering business, but even that is difficult and really wouldn't allow me to pioneer. I think I'd probably spend more time working for myself at that than my 9-5 now. I'd love it if I could get a job involving food (other than waitressing) that was part time, allowed me to pioneer and still see Donovan as much as I do now. Anyone know of a job like that? :P
I'll pay you to cook for me. Is monopoly money ok? LOL! Sorry, I've eaten too many Ramen noodles this week.
oops, please ignore my double negative.
if you lived closer i would suggest you come be another chef with me at the tea room, but if ur thinking of chef jobs look for like a breakfast spot or a tea house that is only open til 4. that way you dont have to work nights and they're usually closed on mondays. you never know until you search it out.
There's not really any place like that out here. I'm not complaining, it's just nice to daydream about what I could spend my days doing, you know?
Actually, this isn't that far from me - think I should send em an email asking if they have any openings?
I will advise you on this one. I have years of experience in the food service industry, and yes, like Todd said, it is VERY trying. It can, and most of the time is, late hours, semi-okay pay, and high stress (depending on the type of restaurant). Usually the chefs that get the good hours are the higher ups, like executive chefs and such. But again, depends on the restaurant. There were cooks in the last restaurant I worked at, who were "prep cooks," meaning they got everything ready in the morning. They came in SUPER early, prepped stuff for the day, and were usually gone well before noon. There are some restaurants out there who are pretty flexible with the schedules for the other cooks as well.
I think, if you know you enjoy doing this, you're good at it (which is obvious to any of us who have seen your recipes here), and you can deal with the stress that comes with the industry, then I'd say give it a go. I will post a warning though....the food service industry is notorious for immorality of all sorts. I know of very few people in the restaurant business who aren't involved in things like smoking, drugs, excessive drinking, and all sorts of promiscuous behavior as well. And these things aren't kept quiet either....you will pretty much hear about things like this on a daily basis, and even in the nicest restaurants, you will be surrounded by it. I have, unfortunately, learned this from experience.
So as long as you think you would be ok and not feel stumbled or anything, in that type of environment, again, I'd say give it a try.
There's my two cents....I'm off my soapbox now, hahaha.
And if you ever have any other questions on the industry, let me know. :)
To clarify, I'm not saying all restaurants and the positions within the restaurants are bad....you just have to be careful, because as Todd said before a lot of what surrounds that industry can be damaging to your spirituality, if the place you work at involves those things.
Yay..first day of school! I got my Hello Kitty backpack all ready to go. I hate forcing myself to eat in the morning when I'm not hungry yet.
Are you in High School still?
Ahah noo..I'm a senior in college and I had a very bad first day of school. I need a snack pack.
Whatsamatta U?
Montclair decided to not allow sophmores to park on campus anymore which means my nice empty parking garage that I like to park in was full. So, I had to wait for people to leave (even though I spend $100+ extra a year to park in that garage) and was therefore late to class.
I think I may have resolved the problem, though. It just made me very frustrated too early in the morning.
That sucks! I remember if I didn't get to NJIT by like 7:30, the parking garage was full. I just double parked people and moved my car later. Also, (evil laugh) when my office parking garage is full because of festivals here in downtown b-hem, I borrow one of the orange cones from the storage locker (which is never locked) and put it in front of a space in the back when my car's not there. Then I've got a space the next day. Works pretty well.
I thought NJIT is an engineering school? They teach food preparation there too or whatever a degree like that is called?
No - I don't have a culinary degree. I was going to NJIT for architecture.
Oh. I almost went there for the same thing. Now I design mechanical parts instead of houses.
Nice!
I only have a Drafting Certification too. You just have to be ambitious. If you choose the right field, you don't need a 4 year degree or more. I see people go to school for things like Sociology, and I wonder, why bother. One guy I know has that degree and now does accounting. LOL!
Not everyone is talented in areas where they can find something that you don't have to do four years or more. Maybe, looking back now, I can figure out something I could have done. At the time there's no one to give you a list of things you can do that won't take four years of schooling first, unfortunately.
Everyone does what they think is good for them. If I wasn't in a serious relationship back then, I think I would've finished an architecture degree. Everyone's goals are different and constantly changing.
Yeah I guess my point is, some people pick degrees that are useless. So make sure what you pick will support you.
School parking is so absurd! I sold my garage pass to some desperate sophmore because as a senior I can park on campus (which is now seriously less crowded because all the sophmores are in the garage). The waiting list for the garage was over 200 people! Hah.
I can always take the train too. I've seen people use the orange cone ploy in the garage last year..people just ran the cones over.
At least you made a few bucks off the useless pass.
my niece has the same problem....she goes to CSF and they had to build 2 extra parking structures to try to fit everyone. they have shuttles that pick up students from one end in anaheim to their school in fullerton.
Shuttle busses are the real bane of my existance. I have the operating number on my speed dial and call them once a week to complain.
why? are they not fast enough? i know the kids at CSF complain too...my niece said it just doesnt work.
Sometimes they just don't show up but you'll see one going to a different location go by like..3 times.
Seriously, it's ridiculous how much 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' is my guilty pleasure......craziness. Love that white-trash blonde mullet dude and his family.
Hey dg....how you doing these days?
I'm doing ok. I'm sorta dreading this weekend, though. I can hold myself together by withdrawing from talking about things, and focusing on other stuff, but I don't know what I'm gonna do when I see my mom break down. Hoping I'll be able to hold it together...
Isn't it amazing how strong we can be for ourselves, but when others hurt, especially our parents, it affects us so much? There's few other things in this world that hurt us like seeing a loved one hurt or upset. I feel for you, I really do. I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers, and I know you'll be able to get through it all ok. Be strong. :)
Thanks. :)
Now you TELL me that baby doesn't look Asian of some sort....seriously? I mean, come on!!!

What fun this evening has been. ANNNNND I feel better for service tomorrow!!!!
aw, wonderful!
this one is for all of you blackberry addicts
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Technology/story?id=2348779
i call sham!

i call adorable!
Well the conversation with Tyler's teacher went REALLY well. I'm hoping starting tomorrow, things are a lot better for him.
Ok so....things are going great here, yadda yadda yadda. I accepted a job on Friday, and I have oer 3 weeks before I start it. It's not anywhere near in the field I'm in school for, but it's close to home and pays well.
I just got a call for an interview for my dream job....event facilatator for the Phoenix Zoo. I go in on Thursday for the interview. Now, I'm not in the habit of backing out of promises and the like, but if they offer me that job, I'm calling the Mayo Clinic and declining their offer. Is that uber tacky?
So I went to the fair yesterday and this is what I had:
Hot Sausage sandwich with onions, peppers, sauce and cheese
blooming potato with TONS of cheese. i love cheese.
Funnel cake
Cinammon Roll with tons of gue on it..ohhh
Lemon shakes galore
Apple Dumpling
Fried Veggies and CHEESE. i love cheese.
I love fair food, love it love it.
Mmmm... funnel cake
Oh, I am SOOO jealous!!! All that's missiing is a candy apple....YUM!! Yeah, fair food is the best...I'm gonna miss that about Ohio too, because the fairs out here, and the food, is so different.
Although in February, out here there is a chocolate festival....yummy.
I could of so fit a candy apple in there...i wanted so much more but garrett told me i was getting to the point of gluttony. haha.
Hey, when the food is THAT good, it's worth it, hahah. That's when I go home and wear my sweatpants the rest of the night, hahhaha.
That food sounds so yummy, I seriously can almost taste it. Is the weather getting cooler there? You have to let me know when it starts to smell like fall....that's my absolute favorite.
i just got back from vacation, so its cold to me because i got used to 90 degrees. but give me a few days and i'll let you know. hahaha. the leaves are still green but it gets dark at like 8 now. :( so sad.
Oh, I miss the FALL!!!! The seasons don't really change here, and there's no "fall smell" like there is in Ohio. No fun. :(
Yeah, the getting dark early thing was never my fave.
i love fairs and amusement parks for that reason...FOOD! LOL we went to Dland yesterday and we ate all day and K WEEEEE had a caramel apple! LOL
JEALOUS!!!! :)
that sounds like every weekend for me at the shore! jk
Apple Dumpling sounds really good but, i've never had one.
Funnel cake is the only goody from my glory days that I might try and sneak once and again.
glory days? do tell
Hey mandie, where do you guys have your conventions? Up north or further down south in Ohio? Or do you go out of state?
We go to Cleveland.
Oh, ok....I saw one of your pics in your album, and it looked like the inside of the Nutter Center in Dayton, which is where we went. Just curious. :)
Oh yeah, i forgot i had that one in there...yeah we go to cleveland. my good friend goes to the one in Dayton though.
Do you happen to know what hall she goes to? Not that I'd know her...just wondering, hahah.
Ok so here is phase one of two:
we are finally finished painting and now...landscaping...
any ideas?
you can just click on the clicky part, it will take you there..then just click on "our house"
I like the color.
Ok, I guess it's time to realize I can't play sports anymore. My knee has been sore for 2 days just from running for an hour playing football with a bunch of teenagers. Or, it may be time to stop playing baseball, because I think a bad slide into second base aggravated it.
Either way, I feel like an old man.
if the knee brace fits . . . wear it
Yeah, I'm going to have to at this point.
Ok, everyone can settle down now...Super Dan is here...
I'm watching "The Crocodile Hunter." Kinda sad, 'cause there won't be any new episodes.
I go to a rug place looking for a rug naturally. So the guy asks me if i need any help, so i say well i am looking for a zebra print rug but i dont want a tight zebra stripe pattern i want it more spaced out. So he goes we dont have that , and walks by me , i say okay he goes and gets a peice of leapard carpet, and says we have this.. So i am looking at it and i go do you have any zebra over there thinking he was just showing me that to show me the closesness in pattern- and he goes isn't this zebra.. IN ALL MY LIFE i have never had anyone mix up an animal print as different as zebra and leapard.. I had to laughed & think he has definalty been working in the rug business to long if he cant tell his animals apart.
Hahahaha! this sound like a Livy-style rant =P
i couldn't beleieve it . & he was seriuos! & I walk 2 feet and there is a WHOLE BOOK of different zebra prints.
I just ordered from this catalog. They don't have zebra, but they have pretty cool patterns. And I read that using carpet tiles rather than wall to wall is one of the best things we can all do for the environment because you can take them wherever you move and they don't take up as much space in landfills. This company is particularly environmentally friendly.
(But nothing is zebra, just some other funky patterns)
Oh sorry, I didn't see your above comment. Nevermind!
Ya i keep seeing this capret tile stuff all over the place. (btw he didn't have the zebra print i was looking for, I think potterybarn has it but it is in brown)
Carpet tile also prevents wrinkles and bubbles (places where the carpet puckers up) from forming. We're having that problem at the hall and they're thinking of replacing it all with carpet tiles instead.
i am just looking for area rugs.
that is a really good idea for kingdom halls..
cause also if one peice gets messed up you can just replace that one right?
Mmhmm! Our carpet keeps bubbling up and we've had to fix it several times because people keep tripping..not cool.
Wait what's the name of that site where you can use anykind of IM service keebo or meebo or peebo????
Okay so ALL weekend I almost had NO occasion to speak English it was very bizare but, I think it's good for me to cause a lot of friends in my hall speak absolutely NO ENGLISH. I also began picking up som Chinese so I'm excited....In other news MY LAPTOP ARRIVES TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ASK ME ABOUT MY WIENER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MMmmmmm Hmmmm I'm done now =)
Ok, so how do you nicely reject a job offer? I wasn't offered the restaurant position yet, they were supposed to get back to me this week. Well, as you might know, I accepted the different position with the Mayo Clinic, for a lot of reasons. Well, the restaurant guy just left me a message and wants me to call him back....no offer yet, but if I AM offered it, how do I nicely decline, even though they went through the trouble of interviewing me?
You probably shouldn't wait for him to offer the job. You should call him back and politely thank them for their time, but that you have accepted a position elsewhere.
No one's chatty now....weekend not exciting enough?
I got my hair washed and condtioned while it was raining 'cause I knew the salons would be empty. The only drawback was this girl didn't do a fabulous job blowing my roots out =(
Mmmmmm....I LOOOVE getting my hair washed at the salon.....there are few things in this world that are better.
Scalp massage. PERIOD.
jealous! i haven't had a haircut in months and i won't until after the wedding in december.
hello hello. i tried to email you today, but it bounced back.
email address is changed.....try kgabardy at gmail dotcom
Ahh yess.. ottawa trip booked.
Time to party with the crazy canadkaisndanns!
it's nice to have houseguests but it's even nicer when they leave
So I love that we have trash pickup twice a week out here. At first I didn't understand why.....then I started smelling the 2 day old trash in the 110 degree heat, and became very grateful for this service, hahaha.
I can't imagine what the neighborhoods would smell like if people had to wait a whole week to throw out their trash in this heat....ugh.
Okay my journal's taking longer than anticipated...but for the request I mailed to a few peeps respond to my ezabel id @ ezabel.com THANX muah!
i had the most interesting drive home on friday afternoon. i got followed by some psycho...he followed me from one fwy onto a different freeway into anaheim. so finally by then i called the anaheim PD and mentioned what was going on (acted a little desparate cause the psycho was annoying) and also mentioned that i knew someo of the guys in the dept. The dispatch told me to exit the fwy, heads toward the anaheim station and then the police would find me. anyway, one squad car waited till we passed through a street light and waited till the freak passed, then he followed him, then another squad car was coming from the opposite direction made a u-turn then got on the other side of the psycho's car then another followed from behind & they boxed him in and there was a helicoptor overhead that followed them and they pulled the guy over. LOL
Whoah. Good police.
i dont think there would've been that intense of a response but since i mentioned a few of my friends are on the squad they were on it.
That's crazy!!!
wow, so what did they do to the guy? could they even ticket him for anything?
Gina, drop your friend's name to me, so if I'm in the area driving, I can use your hookup, hahahaha!! j/k
pics i took from the wedding yesterday (oh and todd took a couple at the castle location too, thanks todd!)
http://picasaweb.google.com/ianzabel/BrandonAndJamieSWeddingSeptember4th2006
wow todd's sis looked so pretty & your bro looked handsome. I think my fav is the black and white pic of jamie. the place they got married at was gorgeous!
geez that black and white by the window is amazing

i totally stole that shot from the photographer. after he took his pic, i just put my camera on his tripod haha
Wow Jamie's dress is so pretty!
Aw, gorgeous!!!!
happy day for the families! :)
i guess my invitation was an e-vite. i don't read e-vites. so i probably missed out on a good time.
e... i got some pics on my camera and a few on Jesse Hughes... i was gonna throw em in another album, or i could upload them... whatever you want.
oh wait did you see that picture in there of you dancing with someone else during.....what was it?....... oh yeah a swing song. thanks. thanks a lot.
his eyes look sexy in that picture
dude!!!! i told you i was sorry!
everything was so gorgeous. i loved jamie's dress soooo much.
Jamie is so georgous! everything is so beautiful.
TODD - tell your sister and new bro in law that i said congrats and they look amazing. -OR- IAN - tell your brother and new sister in law that I said congrats and they look amazing. HAHA.
What gorgeous pics! I'm sure they had a wonderful day. Where are they going on their honeymoon?
I luv the picture of Larry E. dipping his wife she's like "And away we go"
Bro Bastidas has a very stately look to him, very classic.
Jamie has great taste her dress suits her. The bridesmaid dresses were beautiful (Mikayla & Jackie look great) they had an understated elegance, great color choice to!
sooo. you guys are related to Rob Lowe somehow?
http://picasaweb.google.com/ianzabel/BrandonAndJamieSWeddingSeptember4th2006/photo#4971287726139768850
Rob Lowe AND Rodney Dangerfield! Also, the Rob Lowe guy has a sweet tie on. A Ted Baker, I think.
So, Tyler's getting picked on at school by this little bratty kid. I have to go do the mom thing and talk to his teacher when I drop him off. This is one of the "not fun" parts of being a parent.
if that were my kid i'd so go and pick him up and trip the little booger thats bothering my kid . LOL *jk*
Hahahah, I SO want to give this kid a good spanking. Tyler is "sick" because he doesn't want to go. This kid has some issues....every day I hear from him or the teacher that there was something going on involving this kid. He seriously needs help, no joke.
umm, so just an observation.. You tell alot about you child, like everyhting that is going on. In a few years this may really bother him that you were sharing "personal information" with relatively strangers. I know i would freak if I knew my mom was talking to "random people" about what was going on in my life... I am just saying...
(let the crazy reply's begin)
mom's always brag or say whats going on in their childrens lives....its what being a parents all about. your mom probably shared quite a few stories about you when you were a kid...its a given.
I don't see it as sharing information with strangers...I consider you all friends, not "random people". It's more or less a way of venting for me, and sometimes trying to get advice. Tyler will never be on this site, and I tell you all these things knowing that, if ever any of you all were to meet him, you wouldn't just blurt out things like "So your mom told me you were being bullied."
hmm if i may chime in... real quick... we all share a measure of personal stuff on here, and i know i do it too but just remember this is a public site that anyone can go on and read all this personal info you're sharing, just be careful that's all! I know I use this place to vent and so do a lot of people but it is the internet, it's public, and sharing a lot of detail may not be the best idea - that's all.
Having said that, i'm sorry you're going through a rough time, moving is one of the most stressful things in life, it's actually on top of the list! So it's a lot of adjustment, and a lot to deal with. I can understand that you need to vent.
Yeah, I agree....I try not to share the things I wouldn't want people to know about me or my family, the personal stuff. And the bigger venting, I try to saeve for the ez messages, hahaha.
Little information about Tyler though, I don't see as a big deal...now obviously if he were a teenagre dealing with a bigger issue, I'd see the point in keeping things like that quiet. But things like this, kids deal with. Part of me, in telling about the bully issue, was hoping someone might be able to offer some insight on the whole thing. Outside perspective always helps me, and you guys haven't let me down yet when I needed it, haha.
I appreciate you understanding my stress....I'm doing ok, mostly....just seem to be praying a lot more than usual, haha.
my observation is that you put videos of yourself on here in your jeep ... what if your jeep gets an internet connection in a year or two and gets all upset because there are pictures of it online?
haha, we had a chat the other day i told him what I do he was taken back he says you could have atleast prepared me so i could look my best for the camera, & so I said next time I will let you know. & If I post it for people to see, I will let you know, he says to me, ahh what a wonderfull life i lead especially after i have a whole new engine to put around with your so good to me stef don't ever leave me.
True Story... (haha)
But seriously though....I'm meeting with his teacher this afternoon, to let her know about how this is affecting Tyler. We've told him how to act with it all, to tell a teacher, to walk away when this kid tries to hurt him (yes, this kid's done that too), and I can see it affecting Tyler. He doesn't want to go to school, he was "sick" today, when he woke up, he's angry and stressed when he comes home, and he's sad and sometimes cries about school. I'd like to go into the meeting with her, having some sort of suggestion as to what to do. She's aware this kid is a bully and that he has problems....the second day of school, he had to be removed from class for an angry outburst, and he freked out.
I've never had to deal with bullies much, so I've given him all the advice I have....anyone have anything else that might help?
Awwwwww. I just saw this it'd break my heart if someone picked on my baby.
Nice:

So yeah, how's everyone doing this morning? Ha.....ha
Doing ok. What's so funny?
Nothing actually.....it was one of those forced laughs, so I don't cry. Ha....ha...*sigh*
i always feel so sad and homesick when my family leaves :(
jeeeeennnnnn...when are you coming???
What a nice weekend. I feel like I was away for a month and this is the first day of a new job. Except I'm not excited. I really think it's messed up that in our culture, we work away from home more than we see our family.
you know what i realized? my boss's kids don't see him as much as I do. If he works till 6, gets home at 7, and goes to sleep at 11 - that's 4-5 hours per day with his kids. I work with him for 8 hours per day. So messed up. and I am doomed to be part of this cycle one day with my own kids.
It's really messed up.
Good morning, all!
How was everyone's weekend?
School.. the saddest season of all eternity has started again
oh come on. Do you know how much I would give if I could go back to say.. 9th or 10th grade, before I entered the working world.. and the only thing i had to worry about is getting home in time to watch the X-men cartoon with my little brother
ahh those were the days
ditto, show me to the time machine
its not that i dont like school i like being there just fine.. its getting up at 6 in the morning to get ready after getting up at noon for three months and doing nothing that kills me
