So there's a dilemma with Tyler, and I need some suggestions.
School is better, the bully kid is nicer, things should be good, right? Well, it's become very apparent that Tyler, being as loving as he is, wants to be friends with ALL the kids in his class...including the ones who aren't the best choices of friends (those were his teacher's word's, not mine). She's aware that he usually isn't the cause of the problems, but continues to be influenced by them, because he wants to fit in so badly.
He's good when he's with the good kids, and when he's with the not so good kids, he behaves like them. Easily influenced, to say the least. Adam and I have talked to him over and over about this, because ultimately it winds up affecting his classroom behavior, and he gets in trouble for it. We've brought up every point about friends, behaving, respect, etc....you name it, we've most likely gone over it with him.
I'm at a loss, and mentally, I can't continue to have daily discussions with his teacher about how he is around the other kids, his behavior, etc. We struggled with this last year too, and I have to figure out a way to turn things around....any suggestions?
Tell him that not fitting in with everyone is the cool thing to do! He can be goth-Tyler.
Really..this is tough. I can't even remember ever being in the frame of mind where I wanted to be friends with everyone but I can see where you could be easily influenced if you want to be friends with someone.
Are these kids going to laugh at him if he doesn't go along with whatever antics they're doing?
I swear..it wasn't my fault! It's the rails!
I know, it really was the rails this time! had some corruption that I had to fix. We shouldn't be getting so many errors now.
The good thing is, there's enough kids that ARE good, to where he won't be without friends if he deicdes to behave as well.
The kids probably laugh at thim, but they tend to be a little meaner than you'd expect. He's a really nice kid, and being mean isn't really his nature, and he's a little sensitive, so when they get mean, he gets upset. It's a really not good cycle.
