It's like..off and on. It'll work really fast for a second and then stop working completely.
Those speeds are good, but the latency is pretty bad. What ISP? Must be cable, right?
What is latency?
And yeah, Optimum Online.
it's the time it takes for data to be sent back and forth from your computer to a server on the net.
i guess what you could try now is to hook up the router again, and while the one computer is downloading something (like an mp3, or a video, or some large file), run the speed test from the other one again and see how it looks.

It seems like it's not any slower now..I didn't do anything different to it though.
Okay, well websites work all right but AIM keeps acting funny with the router.

overall, it looks like you have a very solid connection with or without the router in place. what is AIM doing that is funky?
It keeps signing me off and on when the router is in place, almost like I lose the connection for a few seconds?
What type of router is this?
Wireless G Belkin Router. Compatible with 802.11b, 802.11g
Does it make toast?
It does get hot.
its the ports on your router...

ahnd use UDP with aim
What do you mean by "flooding in everything"?
Could the problem possibly be the PCI card I installed?
What is UDP?
