Ok so i have a question...does anyone else find it interesting how democrats took both the house and senate with a republican president? (keep in mind democrats view on religion)...
i'm a complete political noob... can you explain this a bit more? i have no idea what i should be reading between the lines
Historically, republicans are known for being champions of "traditional values", including religion, intact families and a class system. Democrats are known for being more "liberal", or challengin...
You really think thats the general attitude out there in the world?
I don't pick up on thatt..
And democrats aren't against religion... They are against RELIGION IN Goverment.
Seperating Church and State and such..
maybe im' out of the loops
Yeah That's what I was trying to relate. This is what I meant by "why do we need religion backing US government" attitude, they don't want religion "in" the government. Not that want to abolish the freedom of having it.
I just notice a lot more than usual younger generations not caring about religion. Even older ones fed up with the churches, etc.
I think a lot of the problem right now is that our current president keeps talking about god. I think dems really just want that to stop, generally. And they're opposed to the war, so that's why the change in the houses is so critical. Notice the last few weeks how Bush has been saying 'We're going to change our strategy in Iraq'? It was widely thought that control of the houses would shift and bush wouldn't have quite the amount of power he did over the war, so he's trying to save face. The shift in power is also emphasized by the fact that Rumsfeld is being replaced as secretary of defense.
sounds true
