Ever listen to Zox? They opened for Flogging Molly when I saw them in October...really interesting mix, I wouldn't exactly say punk with Irish influence but it falls in there somewhere.

Zox sounds to have a heavier injection of ska, with the exception of their having a violin which might give a small hint of Irish feel. Personally, I can't say like it.

The reason I love the Pogues so much, is because I love traditional sound, and the Pogues have a very clear traditional injection, because one, they're actually an Irish band that hails froms Ireland and two, they use traditional instruments, rather then electric guitars. In fact, I don't consider the Pogues punk. I consider them to have punkish attributes and a root of maybe what became "punk." Which is pretty much all aggressive Irish pub sing a longs. If the Pogues got rocky with electric guitars and had an "Irish-American punk sound," I'd probably not like them.
