oh wow. well at least the money is being put to good use.
The story is that this kid just opened his front door and was shot in the chest. (The local news article.) Honestly, it's cementing our resolve to move out of this town; the shooting was about 1.5 miles from our house. That's way too close to home. Plus, the state just approved plans for a slot casino on the other side of town (near that shooting) which means unless the city beefs up its police force, there's going to be a serious increase in crime.
wow, well, you have to remember you're still living in this system, where there's wicked everywhere. You cannot find a place thats safe. and if you're letting a shooting down the street from you make you go into hiding i would move to a remote island. LOL we had a 16 year old get shot a block away from our house. it is def scary, dont get me wrong but things are happening even in the remotest parts of the country.
I know, I know. If I could buy my own private island and live off coconuts, I totally would! That's not the only reason we want to move; there's lots of factors. Statistically, there's lots of towns surrounding us that have lower crime, so there's no reason for us to NOT go there, ya know?
This reminds me of last year. Some crackhead was selling magazine subscriptions door to door and an old lady invited him in for something to drink. He robbed get, killed her with a fire poker, and left. He was caught pretty quickly.
This was like 3 streets down from me. I live in a very quiet, shore town. Shows ya that you can't hide at all. Violence strikes like lightning.
An aside: Because the dude was going door to door people started flipping out about us preaching. We weren't permitted to go out for almost two weeks. Now theres a "no knock" sticker avialable from the county. Some people think this applies to us, so we carry a little sized down document indicating that it doesn't.
oh wow! something like that happened down our street when i was around 6. some druggie was pretending he was there to work on the old ladies house...she couldn't remember if she called them etc. so she invited him in, he robbed, raped and killed her. it was SO horrible and our neighborhood was an middle-upper class neighborhood too.
yeah and not to mention that Brick, NJ is considered one of the safest towns to live in the entire US and this happened about what, 10 miles from Brick? heh
