hmmm, what's wrong with fall out boy? good question. well for starters they suck. and they make out with other guys; this really comes across in their music, because it tends to be really gay. a...

Good summation. Bad lyrics and badly composed music = a bad band.

i would venture to say that the main reason you guys or anyone else doesnt like them is because of the reason that the 12 year old kids like them, and you dont want to be associated with that type of person. but guess what? thats what happens when youre appealing, when you are on the radio. a lot of the music on the radio isnt that good, so maybe thats not saying much, but thats not most peoples opinion. theres a reason that millions of people buy albums of bands, whether you like them or not.

the truth is they are musically superior to most pop punk bands out there, in terms of making catchy songs and making them sound good. at least they sound like that on the album. granted, ive never seen them live, so i cant say anything for them as far as that goes. and i know you guys wont agree with this...but their lyrics are pretty much run of the mill for the genre...so if you like the lyrics from ANY band of the pop-punk/emopunk/etc genre (excluding several outstanding lyricists - brand new, say anything, saves the day, etc) then youre not getting anything worse listening to fall out boy. so if you dont like any of those bands, then fine. but i know a lot of you guys like bands like taking back sunday, etc...aside from their first album when they had john nolan, then how are their lyrics any better than fall out boy's?

look...fall out boy just doesn't do it for me. in other words, i hate them. i guess what i am saying is, that i don't like them...at all. let me put it this way...in my opinion, they are not good. you might say they are not my type of band. i guess the point i am driving at here is that, the so called..."music"...they make, is not "appealing" to me. if they were a type of donut at dunkin donuts, and i had to buy a dozen donuts, i wouldn't buy one of them. i don't like them, their image, the things they promote by the way they dress, and act. i don't like the guys voice. it makes my ear drums bleed. the music "insists upon its self" (peter griffin). their songs are all over produced. if they all slit their wrists and died tomorrow, i wouldn't really feel all that bad. i want to kick them...in the head...with an iron boot. is that a good reason?

Well I don't like the "pop-punk" sound at all, so the music they make will never sound good to me, regardless of whether they can play it well live or not. It is overly produced in the sense that the sound is not creative. I do like bands that interesting and produced, like The Life and Times, for example. Their music isn't like what's all over the radio, and that's what I want to listen to. Think about older musicians too, like Peter Frampton hooking up a modulator to his throat and guitar to produce an amazing sound. Creativity is what I'm looking for, and Fallout Boy does not have it.

As far as lyric, why would you not demand a band with good lyrics all the time? I don't read books that are poorly written, I don't want to listen to music that's poorly written. I've said before that the Ataris are a band who write catchy music, but whose lyrics occasionally suck. I still have their albums because they're fun to listen to when you're in a fun mood, or at parties; and a few songs on each of their albums are well-written. But they're probably the only band in that "fun" genre that I can stomach for half and hour straight.
