Wow. So I've been getting a little pressure (they don't mean it as pressure, they're trying to be guiding) from two of my favorite professors about going to get my Masters. And it's tempting because I just finished my last paper for school and even though I was so stressed I realized how much I love going to school and learning.

So, I was thinking about all this on the ride home and when I got home I got to read my text for the day. So perfect.

right on, eh?

Keep strict watch that how you walk is not as unwise but as wise persons, buying out the opportune time for yourselves, because the days are wicked.—Eph. 5:15, 16.

University and college campuses are notorious for bad behavior—drug and alcohol abuse, immorality, cheating, hazing, and the list goes on. In addition, there is the pressure of schoolwork and examinations. Naturally, students need to study and do their homework to pass the exams. Some may also need to hold at least a part-time job while going to school. All of this takes a great deal of their time and energy. What, then, will be left for spiritual activities? When pressures mount, what will be let go? Will Kingdom interests still come first, or will they be put aside? (Matt. 6:33) How sad that some have fallen away from the faith as a result of succumbing to the demands on their time and energy or of getting entangled in unscriptural conduct at college! w 10/1/05 11, 12a

I read the text today too and the article it came from. You know, that's such a difficult subject, if you put it in black and white terms

"going to college will make you fall out of the truth"
or
"you can't get a job unless you go to college".

but if you put in perspective, and look at it lovingly, the way the Society does, it makes sense

"yes, you need a good education to get a good job, but spiritual things are more important for keeping spiritually strong and staying as one of Jehovah's people".

It's so hard for me because in my mind I can see certain things as clearly bad: fornication, drugs, porn...stuff like that. Then I look at school and I think, "But school is so good!" Though, it's so clear how and why it can take you away from spiritual things.
