I have to put about a grand into my car this week between new brakes and maintenance. That hurts. What doesn't hurt is going out in service 6 hours before coming into work for 4 hours. Well it hurts my wallet, but not much else.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

last july i invested a little money in the stock market, and less than a year later it's gone up 25%

biggest mistake? not jumping on apple when it was about $50 a share (i thought it was too expensive) it's at $113 today. I did buy some at $88 though...

NICE! where are you working now?

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

oh i start my new job on Tuesday so right now i'm still at my current job.

I got hired at Staples Corporate office! The job is more money and I'll be supporting the group of people Lauren is part of. Which is weird because we'll work in the same office and commute together. But everyone at her job leaves at exactly 5 pm, so she's home at 5:12. That means I'll get an extra hour of my life back every day, because right now i get home at 6:15.

1 hour per day = 5 hours per week = 250 hours/yr = 10.3 days! holy crap that's awesome!!

oh plus it's more money and no travelling. haha.

At the event that we had last night there was a lot of excitement.
Early yesterday afternoon, our original speaker for the program (the author of the book In Her Shoes) Jennifer Weiner, had to cancel.

After a lot of string pulling and some last minute calls Mia Farrow accepted to speak in Jennifer's absence.

People were actually very impressed and pleasantly surprised.
Mia Farrow is refreshingly personable she came in the front entrance of the hotel, didn't have any security, spoke freely and openly with many before and after the program ended.

I wasn't aware of so much of what she discussed; personal illness, adoption issues, her upbringing. Fortunately she didn't feel it necessary to mention her former husband, it woul've detracted from the frogram anyhow, she's a pretty classy lady =)

My computer at work yesterday was being such a pain.... hardly got any work done and I wanted to catch up on work to make up for being out sick on Tuesday. Now today and tomorrow is gonna be sooo crammed with getting work done. Our productivity at work is heavily looked at & if we're falling short could very well be fired from the job altogether. hrmmm. worries worries

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

they should just put her on house arrest...so lame

Paris Hilton is already getting a break -- she's going to serve "about 23 days" in a "special needs" unit, officials said yesterday, about the half the time she was sentenced to in her conviction.

Her sentence was shortened for "good behavior," which apparently includes just showing up for her last court date. L.A. County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said she'll be staying in a two-person cell reserved for "high-profile" inmates, and that she'll have at least an hour a day to shower, watch TV, play outside, or gab on the phone.

Paris will also be separated from the general inmate population.

yay yayOG 2004 ·

Actually being apart from dirtbags and losers will probably hurt her a lot more than being taken away from tv or phone.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

true...but it says that shes going to be away from the "general inmate pop." she needs to rough it out! lol

yay yayOG 2004 ·

Only Jehovah was spelled without the second 'h' which annoyed me to no end.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ·

"More than half of high school seniors still showed poor command of basic facts like the effect of the cotton gin on the slave economy or the causes of the Korean War."

Nope. If it's still for sale next time I go to London maybe I'll look at it. I know this square though, it's where I lived as a renter. That garden is in the middle of the square that only residents of the square have access to. And Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are like a 10 minute walk. The Kingdom Hall is a 3 minute walk. A Book study group is 5-7 minute walk. The shopping mall w/ cinema, pub, internet cafe, are a 30 second - 1 minute walk. Central line tube is 8 - 10 minute walk and you get to the West End theatres and cinemas in no time. Spanish cafe is 5 minute walk. Austrian pub is 5 minute walk. Portobello Road market is 10 minute walk. I mean besides being a beautiful setting, it's an ideal location.

Nice! You don't need a car.

Exxxxxxxxactly. I think I spent like $60 a week on transport in London. In NJ I'm spending like $100 a week on gas and a little over a hundred a month on car insurance. So, it's like $240 a month for the tube in London versus $500 a month driving a car in New Jersey. Ironic isn't it? You'd think London would be the more expensive one. But nope. Not in this case.

There's pictures of inside the flat posted on the internet, but I didn't post them 'cuz there's nothing special about the inside... it's just a studio.

Today has definitely had some good points and some not so great points.

At first I learn that a close family friend has had a massive heart attack, the not so great.

In this area all anyone can do is wait, just wait and see =(

On the positive I learn my Russian accent is on point =)

Also on the positive a couple from my hall that never got to enjoy a formal wedding reception we're throwing a surprise anniversary.
I've volunteered + been assigned to decorate!!!!
This will be the closest I get to design and execute anything even remotely close to an actual wedding for now. Anyhow, I'm excited and I already have a concept using the colors the sister originally had planned for her actual wedding. Additionally the fact that I really honest to goodness LOVE this couple I'm can't wait to surprise them =)

I'm sorry to hear about your family friend :(

But the surprise anniversary party sounds so great! That's so sweet. I'm sure she'll be ecstatic.
