well some peeps DO change after getting married. some peeps REALLY hide their true colors until after their married...you cant keep up a charade. the girl can say she's EVERYTHING to the guy (making herself seem to be what he wants) and vice versa then BAM come living together and being around ea other ALL the time, you can no longer put up the charade ya know.
and besides things happen behind closed doors that no one knows about. my friends friend got married last year and was only married for 5 months...reason they got it annulled...he started hitting her. and the sad thing, he was SUCH the gentleman. was an MS, loved by the cong...etc. you just dont know.
It's so sad you hit the nail right on the head Gina

The most unfortunate part about this it seems as though it's rapidly becoming the norm, everyone has got a story.

Recently there was a couple that was moving into the congregation, both very warm loving individuals, both on point spiritually (from the limited vantage point of imperfection)wedding was supposed to be LAST MONTH...then suddenly there's no wedding to speak of. On the positive it's better to find out before taking that final step, because Jehovah hates a divorcing.
it's just so strange to me why would you pretend to be someone you're not only to get married... either way your life is gonna stink too.. not just the other person's... i mean are 'relations' really worth it haha come on people!!
and i'm just glad that didn't happen to me (hitting) because that guy would not be getting an anullment he would be getting a funeral
YEP I SAID IT!
People just don't distinguish between imagining their life with another and accepting that one for who they are w/ the good, bad, & the ugly, VERSES just liking an individual or becoming infatuated with the IDEA of who someone is.
yeah. some are just in SUCH a hurry to get married that they pretend. not realizing that its a hardship on BOTH. also, some that i've witnessed is the moms tell the girls to "be what he wants until you get that ring then you can change him like i've changed your father" which is OH SO WRONG.
and you are SO right about the divorcing BUT in my experience w/my friends here, if someone that we love is heading the divorce route, we cant tell them they're right or wrong. We can try to encourage what we learn in the scriptures. and we need to keep in mind we dont know whats going on behind closed doors. the only thing is to love both of them and not take sides and be there for both of them as individuals. only jehovahs knows their trials and knows their hearts so we cant say its good or bad.
and kam, i agree w/you on the hitting. any guy would so be busted and dread the day he met me if he laid a hand on me in that way.
"be what he wants until you get that ring then you can change him like i've changed your father" -- I can't believe people say that, that is soo rotten
oh yeah. ive heard it a few times and its so annoying. of course i do speak up and give my opinion on how WRONG and horrible that "advice" is.
I watched freedom writers this weekend and the line was used "you don't love me, you love the idea of me"
