So on this trip to Orlando, I made a vow that I wouldn't read any novels (like I normally do) but I'd read the new release that we got at the District Convention (I had mine Memorial Day Weekend - super early). This turned into two weird experiences.
I'm sitting today at a Chinese food place, reading the book, (which by the way, is AWESOME), when a woman comes up to me in a dress.
Woman: Where did you get that book?
Me: It's new. You can't see it.
Woman: But where did you get it?
Me: It's new. At the district convention.
Woman: Are you an apostate?
Me: No. I got it at the district convention.
Woman: Oh. Becuase we weren't sure. *points to an entire car group out in service staring at me*. We saw you reading the book but it didn't look like one we had seen before, so we thought you might be an apostate.
Me: Uh... no. It's really good though.
Last night ... same chinese food resturant . .. different woman.
*Woman tries to grab the book out of my hand as I pass by*
Woman: can I see that?
Me: No. It's new.
Woman: I know, but can I see it?
Me: No. It's new. You have to wait.
Woman: Are you a witness?
Me: Yes. Don't worry.
Just ridiculous. Keep this in mind when reading a new release from the society in broad daylight. I'd read it in the airport right now but I kind of want to be left alone for a while.
dude thanks for ruining the fact that we get a book...should have "spoiler alerted" us. way to go. :P
Why do these weird things keep happening to you? Although the service group staring sounded pretty comical.
how do apostates get new literature so early and stuff? that always makes me wonder. But i don't want to google it or anything. does anyone know?
i blame you.
This publication is AMAZING! Did you finish it yet?
