I grew up with one person here on eZabel, so, don't think that sorta thing applies. As to others that have grown up together.. I don't think they've molded each other's music interests either tho. I mean speaking personally I have friends who's music tastes I can't stand... but I am still friends with them. I have friends who can't stand some of my tastes. I actually grew up listening to Oldies, 80s, R&B, Rap, Rock, All different Rock, Grunge. Maybe like a lot in my age group. Because music went through so many changes and trends during when I grew up... and then you get the Oldies playing in the background too, because of it being your parent's music while they were growing up. There's music that I no longer like today, music that I still like to this day, and then there's the new things that come today and the next day. I've developed my music tastes and continue to develop. And I don't really care who listens to what, so I have no converting agenda whatsoever.. I present to whoever will listen (Just like door-to-door with the Truth haha). Yeh, it's fun talking about music... but "talking about music is like dancing about architecture." I'd rather play it. But I do think it is also fun to learn about music in an anthropological sense as well. At the end of the day, someone will love, someone will hate, it's however it reaches their heart... it'll be sweet or sour. I don't like music because someone tells me too either.. I'll love who I wanna love, be repulsed by whatever's repulsive to my own 2 ears.
I'm mainly speaking of the people who grew up in Hackettstown and Stanhope. There's a lot of them. I would say people I hung out with when I was younger, influenced my music taste. I hung out with people who were 4-5 years older a lot of times.
this is great! im like you, my music tastes vary...im the youngest of 5 girls so i grew up listening to anything and everything (thanks to ea of my sisters who ALL had different tastes). my ipod has music from abba to zz top...basically every genre there is.
